I'm not familiar with the exact rule, but Neymar stutter stepped, but I don't think he ever came to a full stop.

I saw it twice, it really looked like a full stop. You can slow down, but that was really a complete stop.

If Chile did that, it would've been called back if he made it.

Netherlands got robbed of a penalty near the end of the 1st Half on a foul on Robben in the box.

The Mexican play by play announcer that ESPN hired screamed "All ball!" immediately after the play occurred.

I am afraid my hatred of Van Persie is greater than my hatred of Mexico. If we ever faced them in the World Cup, we'd win 2-0 anyway.

Van Persie was mostly invisible, his sub scores the winning penalty and Mexico loses in heartbreaking fashion. How great is that?

It was such a stupid challenge too that led to the penalty kick. You know his family is dead now.

Haven't seen it yet, but heard that Greece was terrible as usual.  Fucking Costa Rica keeps on going.

It took Greece about 40 minutes to score against a 10 man Costa Rica. It was bad.

Proud of the USMNT.  Came very close 2 or 3 times to leveling the match at 2 in extra time.

A successful World Cup.

Watching this World Cup Tonight show on ESPN makes me realize that the first two soccer players I'm aware of knowing were Pele and Alexi Lalas.  He seemed like the coolest back in 1994.

So proud of the US team.  They survived a group with Germany and Portugal and fought to the end against those damn Belgians.

Here are the next four years of USA soccer:

2015: CONCACAF Gold Cup, Women's World Cup
2016: Copa America, World Cup Qualifying starts, Olympic U-23 Qualifying, Olympic U-23 (maybe)
2017: CONCACAF Gold Cup, Confederations Cup (maybe), WCQ continues
2018: World Cup

Copa America should be really good.  Have any of the host sites been announced?

Van Gaal just subbed in a new keeper a minute before penalties.

Good strategy, although the kick he saved was embarrassing. It was very slow and right to him even before he finished his dive. I fear that kick will be the decider.

Those were some pretty bad kicks by Costa Rica. Netherlands were surgical with theirs.

Fuck Van Persie.

They haven't announced which cities they will play in yet.  I really hope KC is one of the locations, because that would be amazing.

It took me a day or so, but I finally saw the flying knee to Neymar's back.  This was the first thing I thought of.

FF to 1:15 and watch Ole Anderson do the same to Road Warrior Hawk.

Lots of amusing tweets coming up in the midst Germany throttling Brazil.

Ricky Gervais@rickygervais   44m      This won't be the first time that thousands of Germans will have to lie low in Brazil for a while for their own safety. Mark Titus@clubtrillion   7m      If I'm Brazil and this happens to me on FIFA, I go full-blown seppuku and try to get 5 red cards to force the automatic forfeit.

God@TheTweetOfGod   29m      Stop praying to Me, Brazil. Even I can't help you now. #WorldCup

Will McAvoy@WillMcAvoyACN   36m      Brazil now officially looking forward to 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Germany has always struggled.

Frank Underwood@Frank_Underwood   19m      Getting the most entertaining NSA intercepts out of Brasil just now. #GERBRA

Chris Kluwe@ChrisWarcraft   10m      Apparently Neymar wasn't just the figurative backbone of the Brazilian team. Who knew?

Disappointed that Germany didn't keep the pressure up.  Could have been up by 20.
