Impact Is Reboot
« on: July 17, 2014, 06:45:57 PM »
Tonight starts the series of NYC Impact tapings which got glowing reviews from Mike Johnson of PWInsider. It's also supposedly a soft reboot of the company. Too bad said reboot doesn't involve changing the damn name.

I'm worried about Eric Young's nipples. I don't think they're getting enough circulation, guys.

I thought the show looked great on TV. Not a perfect show by any means, but a definite thumbs up.

As far ahead as they're recording Impact lately, I see a Rick Rude moment happening... Where either Kurt Angle or Bubba Dudley shows in WWE, while TNA still has 9 episodes with them in it (in major angles) left to show...

I'd like to see an angry Angle/Swagger angle.

"Reboot" means to me what the "vote of confidence" from the athletic director to the head coach means to me in college football.

so, maybe its because i havent watched in a long time and the "show feel" got really really bad, but i don't see any difference.  audience seemed to be at the same levels before - where you can almost  hear individual people saying things.  to me it sounds like half the audience is just silent.

or maybe its mic'd badly?

i did like the facial expression lashley used at the end.  he actually seemed vicious and not just a babyface.  like the nickname too.  the destroyer.  that's good.

off topic - isnt it weird (and this goes for all of wrestling) that slamming a guys head into the steel steps is legal....but picking up the steps and hitting a guy with it will get you DQd.  ;)

One, you hit the guy with the steps.  The second, you hit the steps with the guy.  I don't see the confusion.  :biggrin_mini2:

The camera angles are certainly interesting as-is the choice in lighting.  Might be worth watching a few times.

I questioned the stairs slam too, as I don't recall this being billed as No DQ. Lashley did whip Hardy into the steps earlier though.

The building was a perfect setting because it gave a unique look and enhanced the crane camera views. Sure it's not a 20,000 seat arena, but it looks different, and that's why it works.

And yes, I like "The Destroyer" name too, though I don't think Lashley will be shooting beams out of his face. Maybe call him "Destroyer Lashley". Works for me...

oh, im not questioning why he wasnt DQ.  i just had that thought.  in every company you can slam a guy into stairs, but pick up those stairs and slam them into him and that's just wrong.  lol

i hear what you are saying z, but it felt like just another tna broadcast to me.

i would dump bobby and lashley and just go with the destroyer or just destroyer.

actually...it would be a neat little thing for him to go heel and tell everyone to call him robert the destroyer lashley.  he'd surely get a ton of "bobby" chants.  could be fun.

I figured they cut the "Bobby" in Bobby Lashley because they already have Bobby Roode. Not defending, I just think maybe they didn't want two Bobbys since they seem to be building to a Roode vs. Lashley match.

or its cause he already looks like a boy and bobby is a boy's name (at least, thats how it registers with me).
