One thing that really impressed me was how well they were able to express emotion with Rocket and Groot's faces.

If I'm correct Groot was actually fully mocapped by Diesel which would be part of why.

In somewhat related news, James Gunn confirms this was Adam Warlock in the Thor 2 cocoon.

About to be the highest grossing movie of the year if people keep watching, beating out Winter Soldier.

Wish I had seen this in theatres before I heard all the hype about how great it was.  At first I had low expectations, then I heard from IRL friends and the internet how awesome it was.  So I was expecting awesome, and instead came out of it feeling somewhat let down.

I mean, it was good.  it just wasn't THAT good.

It was good, just not amazing. I think the sequel will be a lot better with the characters already established. Wouldn't kill them to have their main villain be less generic next time too.

P.S. Amy Pond shaved her head so she could wear 3 hours worth of makeup and half her skull was covered anyway? That angered me.

She's also one of those rare girls that has a nicely shaped head to look hot bald.

I'm glad GOTG was a box office juggernaut because it'll give leverage to more diverse superhero films for the studio to invest in, but I have no interest in a second watch.

Other than Starlord, they really spent very little time developing the others. Rocket and Groot got away with it because they were written and voice acted so well as Han and Chewie archetypes.

And they made the two villains Thanos and Ronan so generic and forgettable. That's fine for Ronan, but unforgivable for Thanos one of the most entertaining villains ever written.
