For those who don’t know their Batman lore, Selina Kyle is Catwoman’s alter-ego, although curiously, the press release makes no mention of the word “Catwoman.” And in something of a surprise, Nolan also announced today that his Inception actor Tom Hardy will play the villain Bane, a more recent addition to Batman’s storied rogues gallery. He made a big splash in the Batman comics by breaking Bruce Wayne’s back in 1993. Hardy’s participation in The Dark Knight Rises has been previously reported (although never confirmed by the studio until today), but the widespread speculation was that he’d be playing Hugo Strange or Clayface.

Personally I think Cat Woman is supposed to be pretty, but that's just me

I know Nolan said this would be his last film in the Batman franchise. Have any of the other players (Bale, Freeman, Caine) said that this will be their last one as well? If not, I can't imagine that Warner Bros. wouldn't want to keep this train rolling.

Hatheaway is pretty, but not pretty enough to be Catwoman IMO. But I'm curious to see his vision for her. He did cast Ledger after all.

I don't think my standards are that out of the world, there are just types I find unattractive - that mouth on her is hideous.

BUT - She is a good actress

Hathaway is pretty. She's just not sexy. Catwoman should be a sex bomb. Maybe Hathaway has something we haven't seen yet.

Interesting they're using Bane. Wonder how they're going to rejigger him. Fairly lame character on the surface.

A faithfully done Bane would be far more interesting than that hideous one-dimensional monster in the Batman & Robin travesty. Though it will be interesting to see how they work the venom into a real world setting.

One problem with that leaked script is that it mentions an Edward Nashton as the Riddler when Nolan specifically said no Riddler.

Hathaway has a ridiculous body but she's never really rocked it in any of her movies, so I'm sure if they dressed her right and she acted the part right (she's a pretty good actress), they could get away with it.

Someone said Olivia Wilde, and she is a great choice. Jessica Biel was rumored, and I'd LOVE to see her in that outfit. I know she can't act, but Megan Fox is a sexy machine and just the thought of her in skin tight vinyl would sell like a billion tickets.

Tom Hardy as Bane is perfect. And I think Hathaway as Selina Kyle will work -- as I said in the pr0n forum, she is insane and I think she can tap into that fairly well.

I really wanted to see David Tennant or Michael C. Hall as the Riddler though.

I think Hathaway will be fine as Catwoman. Still I'm just wondering how they'll do Bane since being a jacked up but brilliant monster is Bane's schtick.
