This is something that has been mulling around in my head this year. I'm getting it out there now so I can get feedback well in advance.
It's pretty clear that traffic to these boards has diminished. Just looking at Slugfest and Cup voting this year compared to a year or two ago shows that. My hunch is at least part of this is due to social media being more commonplace and in depth than message boards. I'm not complaiing as much as just realizing how things have evolved over the past ten years.
I love doing the Cups, and especially the Slugfests, but if the participation is dwindling then logistically it's just not as worthwhile.
I'm considering for 2015 opening up Slugfest and A1 Cup voting to the respective Facebook pages, simply because there seems to be more traffic there. Plus with shares and likes, it can bring more people in on the fun. Sure the polls may be less scientific, but this isn't about science it's about fun.
If this does happen, I can assure you that Cup and Slugfest presence will still be felt here. Nominations and rules decisions will still be shown here, as well as sneak peeks and other fun goodies. It's just the voting that would be done on social media.
As I said, I am open to feedback. Positive or negative, just be honest.
