World Wide Wrestling Federation, 1976 – Chuck Wepner, one one the prominent boxers through the 60s and 70s, faced Andre The Giant in a much publicized “Boxer vs. Wrestler”. This unique matchup allowed Wepner to punch like a boxer, but wrestling holds were still legal. It is believed by some that this match inspired the infamous scene from Rocky III where Rocky tangles with Thunderlips (Hulk Hogan).
