WWE announced today that former Multi-Time World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Angle is the first officially confirmed name for the Class Of 2017.
This marks the return of Angle to the company after a near 11 year absence. He was last seen on WWE programming in the Fall of 2006 where he was heavily featured on the then new ECW Brand. Angle made a surprising jump to TNA in late 2006, where he was pushed as the top name for several years.
Angle is a 13 Time World Champion, having held six World Titles in both WWE and TNA, and one World Title for Antonio Inoki’s IGF Promotion. He also won the Intercontinental, European, and TNA X-Division titles. And of course in 1996 he won the Olympic Gold Medal in Freestyle Wrestling.
Kurt Angle was previously inducted into TNA’s Hall Of Fame in 2013. This makes him the second individual to be inducted into both the TNA and WWE Halls Of Fame.
