After IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada retained the title over challenger SANADA in the main event of Pro Wrestling Dontaku, Chris Jericho issued a public challenge via a pre-recorded video. That video has since been published by New Japan Pro Wrestling’s YouTube page. The match will main event New Japan’s Dominion event, which takes place in June.
Okada is in his fifth reign as IWGP Champion after defeating former champion “Switchblade” Jay White at G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden. Jericho won the IWGP Intercontinental Championship last year at Dominion by defeating then champion Tetsuya Naito.
Jericho is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, but he has made it clear that his AEW contract does not prohibit him from working for New Japan.
