New Japan, 2006 – On January 4th, 2006 New Japan Pro Wrestling ran Toukon Shidou. The annual event is now called WrestleKingdom, and has been a tradition every January 4th for 25 years. It is New Japan’s biggest event of the entire year, and serves as the conclusion to most feuds.
The main event featured IWGP Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, two years removed from his WWE departure, defending the title against a young Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura was only four years into his career. A match that is surely a top dream match, and has been simulated by many a WWE video games, has actually happened.
