I had to check my calendar when I read these names.

Interesting that it will be three new guys over the age of 35 (Styles is 38.5, Nakamura and Anderson will be 36 by the time they show up in NXT).  Gallows is the youngest at 32 and obviously has prior experience there.

I will miss AJ teaming with the Young Bucks for 6 man tags.

WWE should let Cesaro work the 2016 G1 Climax.

Some guy over on WCMB was fretting that these guys might end up being "wasted" in NXT.  I don't think that guy fully grasps the WWE/NXT dynamic.

They'll be great in NXT. I don't know what NXT pays, so maybe that's what he might have meant. But as we've discussed before we're not involved in their finances, so why should we care what they're making?

My understanding is Nakamura speaks English very well, so he should be able to cut a promo. Guns & Gallows would do just fine on the main roster since their big hosses. My biggest fears are that they'd repackage AJ and Nakamura into something they aren't, if they go to the main roster.

How many of these four guys are in the Bullet Club stable in NJPW? I know AJ and Gallows are. I would think maybe NXT puts them with Balor and establishes the NXT chapter of the Bullet Club. Finn's recent shirt is in the BC style of design.

Either put him with or feud him with Hideo Itami.

New Japan looks to have written off AJ today by having Bullet Club turn on him. NWO style beatdown and Kenny Omega looks to be the leader now.

AJ was doing very well financially in New Japan and some ROH gigs, so I highly doubt he walked away from that just to make $80,000 at NXT for 2 years.  Same for Nakamura and the others to a lesser extent.

AJ seems to grasp that he's only got a certain amount of time to get that money. So I am like you in thinking these guys are probably being paid fairly well.

AJ and Nakamura did not come cheap.

But then again neither did Alberto Del Rio and look at the worldfires he's setting...

Samoa Joe has found some relevance in NXT.  He's been putting on some clinics.  I'm not sure if he will ever have a Raw or Smackdown televised match.   I wouldn't be surprised if the others show up.

The thing is NXT and WWE Proper are two different worlds. NXT is Wrestling, whereas WWE is Sports Entertainment.

Samoa Joe is a wrestler. AJ Styles is a wrestler. Shinsuke Nakamura is a wrestler. This is perfectly fine for NXT.

In WWE there are dozens of "writers" scripting promos and a creative department that has everybody beat everybody so that nobody stands out. Where's the individuality?

AJ subscribed to Sports Entertainment in TNA.  He could perform for WWE if they would have him.

Heck, I'm wondering with him, Rhyno and Storm that there's a message for those that go to TNA and want in.

Even in TNA though they did more wrestling than Raw or SmackDown.  Hell at times it even had better stories.  Not often though.  The in ring work was always better in my book though so not sure how well the TNA sports entertainment analogy works *shrug*

Ever since Storm and Joe showed up I've been hoping for Roode and Aeries to make the switch.  Reunite Beer Money and put Aeries opposite Neville

That ship sailed on from NXT and currently docks at Impact Wrestling.

Aries is still available though.

For those not familiar with Nakamura, this was from his match with AJ on Monday

Eat your heart out, Alberto Del Rio.

Nakamura going to WWE is pretty cool.  This would be like if Kenta Kobashi actually did go to WWE as was rumored around 98/99.

I read on Twitter yesterday that Meltzer thinks that Nak and AJ will have a short stop in NXT, but are destined for the main roster.  I am assuming that means Doc and Karl might be more long term NXT roster members.

They will probably all start in NXT, but Doc and Anderson were doing well financially too in New Japan. Not AJ level, but they are big parts of that company. I just can't see them leaving either without some big guaranteed money.

I would be perfectly fine with Nakamura staying in NXT, but he's too charismatic not to be on the main roster. I could see him feuding with ADR or even Sheamus for the IC/US title then eventually being elevated to a World title run.

Dependent on how long it takes before Creative screws it up or Vince McMahon flips out about something and bury him.

Shinsuke Nakamura stripped of the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. I think that pretty ends any thoughts that he's staying.

One of my favorite posts on this site was Freakfish's thoughts.  He had well thought out booking plans and reasons behind each of them.  And more importantly, something planned moving forward.  This is my best attempt at a similar post.

--I think they have a real chance to build more goodwill with Roman by separating him from the title picture and get into a blood feud with HHH. You want to get him over even more as a face? Have him fight HHH at Mania with the stipulation of career v The Authority being kicked off TV for good. Yeah it's storyline, but if he's "responsible" for getting rid of the heel authority figure angle, he'd endear himself to fans. Less talking, more badass brawls and he can cement himself in the main event picture as a face moving forward.

--I think there's two directions they're contemplating with KO for Mania: Brock and the Undertaker. I think the injury to Cena foiled a program with Taker (according to Meltzer) so they know they could crowbar Owens in there and he'll carry the feud on the mic, much like Bray did. If they go Taker/Owens, then I guess they go Brock/Wyatt? That would be a fun feud, and Brock working his way through the family to get to Bray at Mania is the kind of old school booking I love.

--What in the world do they do with the Bullet Club and Nakamura? I have an idea for Nakamura, but it's dependent on a few things. He's so over as a face, so it's quite a dicey move, but here's my scenario: Brock loses to Bray at Mania, who keeps the WWE title. The next night, Heyman comes out with Brock, and talks about selling high, and knowing when to end a good thing, and that's why he's firing Brock and introducing his newest Heyman guy. Brock goes to attack Heyman, but the lights go out. Nakamura's titantron appears and his music hits (apparently WWE bought the rights, thankfully). You've accomplished a few things by doing this: you've made Nakamura a huge deal, you've given him a mouthpiece, and you have one hell of a program that could last through Summerslam with Nakamura/Brock. If you hold any of the New Japan guys back until after Mania, it's Nakamura. The smart crowd will pop huge and add to the first impression a lot of people will have of him.

--This leaves us with Styles/Bullet Club. Tama Tonga is also a free agent, which plays into my scenario nicely, because I feel like the Bullet Club needs four guys for future booking plans. I have Styles enter the Rumble along with Tonga, Gallows, and Machine Gun. They clean house, and then Balor's music hits as the next entrant. You know what's coming. You don't have the rights to the Bullet Club (New Japan owns it), but you do have the Balor Club. I think Styles is a natural babyface and Balor plays a heel better than he does a face. They turn on AJ, dump him out, and you have a Balor/Styles program moving forward for Mania. After Mania? You could move Styles into a feud with Owens, while the heel Balor Club feuds with a face Wyatt Family, with Balor/Wyatt competing for the WWE World Title. Around SummerSlam I make the title switch to Balor, just in time to defend against a returning megaface: Seth Rollins.

--I'd also like to reform The Shield down the line to back up Rollins vs The Balor Club, but I don't have a plan fleshed out enough to post yet. The point of all this? You have Reigns over as a face away from the title, and you've completely shaken up the top of the card. The Authority is gone, and I wouldn't mind Regal being the face GM that rarely makes an appearance. Something similar to what he does now on NXT or like Jack Tunney. Also, if you notice, I don't have rematches ad nauseam. IMO, that would be the first thing Regal enforces as the new face (the night after Mania). If you lose your title, there's no longer an auto rematch that allows creative to coast for another month. Back to the back of the line and fight your way back up. So coming out of Mania, you have the following programs to lead you into Summerslam:

Balor/Wyatt for the WWE title
Balor Club/Wyatt Family
Lesnar/Nakamura
Owens/Styles
Reigns/Ambrose? (I didn't touch on this, but I haven't thought of Reigns post Mania. I wouldn't mind Ambrose also being a Heyman guy, and turning on Reigns. A stable of Nakamura, Ambrose, and Joe would be a badass group. It seems like the WWE is going back to stables, and this would be a good use of the 3.)

Everybody has a logical reason for feuding with the other, and most importantly, it's fresh matchups. This is something that is sorely missing from the product right now because of the gross misuse of the auto rematches and 50/50 booking.
