Brand Split / SD Moves / Draft
« on: May 25, 2016, 08:59:44 AM »
WWE just broke the news that beginning July 19, SmackDown will move to Tuesdays, run LIVE, and feature it's own roster.

They've got the talent to make it work and if done right will give more talents a better opportunity to shine.  I do wish Raw wasn't three hours in this scenario though.

Wasn't a brand split how they created the Divas title they just killed?

No one said they have to create new titles or any of that.  Hopefully they learned the lesson from the mistakes of the last brand split.

I'd basically do a sports entertainment show and a more standard wrestling show.  I think the shows do need to have different vibe from one another.

I hope Smackdown builds around Styles, Zayn, Owens, Cesaro, Ziggler and Wyatt for the Big Gold Belt.

So Smackdown will run opposite Impact. TUESDAY NIGHT WARS!... Or Tuesday Night Lopsided skirmish...

The talent is deep enough. Just keep the brands SEPARATE!

Supposedly they are.

The only thing I don't like about the brand split is that it harms the enjoyment of the live shows to a degree.  You now know you're not getting certain folks on certain shows.

Listening to Meltzer's and Alvarez's update. Meltzer said he's hearing both shows will have their own World Champion.

One of WWE's faults is they try to recreate history too much.

The brand split is asking a lot of WWE fans, again.

As fate would have it, the WWE draft will happen about a week after The A1 Draft...

Remember the time Cena got drafted from Raw to Smackdown as the 1st pick and back to Raw in the same night?

That was idiotic.

Here's a question, how are they dealing with part-timers such as Taker and Brock?

I would obviously split Roman and Cena.  I would also split Roman and Rollins.

Also I know most don't want a second world title, but what if they elevate the NXT belt to be the SD title?

* Brock is scheduled for the July 11th RAW; rumored to be the Draft show.
* I'd be okay with the NXT Title being on Smackdown. I just don't want a "blue version" of the current WWE World Title. At the same time, I don't want the "Big Gold Belt" back either.

They've brought back the Classic IC Title. Now would be a great time to upgrade/bring back the Winged Eagle belt.

What I mean about part-timers is that it's they can artificially inflate the star power on each show.  Yeah, so Raw gets Brock...a couple times of year.

IC Title can be RAW and United States can be Smackdown, maybe they can mean something again.

Vince has a history of pitting the shows against each other, even though he always wants RAW to win. So, if Smackdown is awesome and doing well in the ratings, then here comes a talent raid in the form of a trade.

Oh, and drop Raw to 2 hours again.

Retire the US and  IC Title belts.  Create the RAW Title and SmackDOWN Title as the main title for each show.  WWE Title holder travels between shows and is contested for his belt by the current show title holders

So there is talk of WWE talking to former talent to help fill out rosters. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Mainly because they are mostly 40+ years old. Unless they're all going to job to the "new era" guys.

Also, between who they have, NXT, and bringing in more... How will they not suffer the same fate as the last brand split of not having enough TV time to go around?
