Captain America Comics Spoiler
« on: May 25, 2016, 02:03:18 PM »
So apparently Steve Rogers has been a Hydra Agent from Day One.

Is Vince Russo at Marvel now?

Seriously, "He's been killing us for years, but REALLY he's been a plant all along!". This "plant" involved him costing you World War II?

The only logical explanation would be he's a double agent who forgot his original cover and signed up for the Super Soldier program on accident.

But then it wouldn't explain the change in his physique. And it wouldn't explain how the rest of HYDRA didn't know he was a plant -- unless it's a Super Secret HYDRA within HYDRA that knows things the rest of HYDRA doesn't know.

Still, it's stupid.

stupid.

maybe they'll retcon this twist later on by saying he's not the true steve rogers, that's a clone from the future sent back in time. the real steve rogers/captain america is in cryo-stasis on Earth's moon.

Yeah, smart money says this is a swerve.

I mean, it's Captain America.  He's basically Marvels Superman, spirit wise. A few writers even had him outright KO the Hulk  while goldilocks never could finish him.  (fyi,.who's Batman?  Imo, it's Wolverine.  Cap represents the ideal hero from a golden age, while Logan is the edgier, cooler, and far more popular anti hero.)

Does anybody know when in the Civil War timeline the issue takes place in? Because in Civil War II Cap is clearly still a good guy.

Here's the explanation, and it actually ties everything up pretty well.

Kobik, the "living Cosmic Cube" that restored Cap's youth, also replaced his memories per Red Skull's wishes. Who would Red Skull want more to be a HYDRA agent than Steve Rogers?

That was pretty much what was speculated.

So a plot device.

You know, I HATE all the high cosmic stuff now.  Used to love it as a kid, but looking back it's just overblown to ridiculousness, and makes for very cheap plot devices..  (Not to mention it makes all Marvel writers look like D&D fan fiction writers, what with the cosmic themes in pen and paper games..)
