It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the news of the passing of Dave Maes, who posted here under the name dasheight.


He had been fighting cancer for years and for a bit we had thought he had beaten the cancer, but, unfortunately, it had came back about a month ago and sadly he lost his battle this morning.


He was a frequent contributed to the A1 Podcast, guest paneling on many episodes, but more importantly to me, he's my friend. And he will be greatly missed.

I didn't know him as well as some of you, but he seemed like a great guy.  And it was fun talking to him about pinball.

I hope he's in a better place now.

Dasheight always struck me as one of the really genuinely good people on these boards.

Dave was so much fun to talk to. Sports, music, wrestling... his bus tweets were epic and his rail fandom was legendary.

Fucking disease. He was a warrior. I'm going to miss him lots.

Terrible disease, and Dave deserved better.  Cancer is why I don't remember my grandmother who died around the same age as him so this really stings. 

I enjoyed that Survivor Series podcast I did a guest spot on with him.  We have very different views on wrestling and I think it made for good discussion.
