This post is to introduce some changes coming up for the web site and community here at A1-Wrestling.com.
Whether this turns out to be a great idea or unpopular decision, I've decided that it's time to do some rebranding. I've been thinking about this for close to a year, and finally back in September, I brought it up with some longtime members of the site for some feedback and ideas, and a direction was established.
So, why the rebrand?
A couple different reasons. If I'm being perfectly honest, I've never been completely thrilled with the A1 name, like getting yourself ahead in the phonebook. But it's still not separating us from others.
The old A1Wrestling has been taken over by a sports betting/gambling blog, so there's A1W vs. A1-W. There is AIWrestling, an independent promotion who's name looks similar (AIW vs. A1-W). There's Alpha-1 Wrestling, a Canadian promotion who goes by A1Wrestling and A1 as short names, so there's enough potential out there to get confused.
So, what's going to happen?
Again, whether people love it or hate it, a new site name was chosen. Behind The Squared Circle. Not to sell it to everyone, but it was chosen because it's a unique name, but still ties into the primary reason for why the site exists - to provide wrestling headlines and discuss the news, rumors, and what's going on behind the scenes in pro wrestling - or what goes on behind the squared circle.
There's a new web site and forum ready to go. We also have a separate site for the podcast site. The new web site is
http://behindthesquaredcircle.com. The forum will be located at
http://behindthesquaredcircle.com/forum. The podcast site is
http://twbpodcast.com.
So, when is the change being made?
This coming Sunday, March 18, starting at 2 PM Central time, I will putting everything in maintenance mode and I'll be flipping the site and forum over to the new location. There will be redirects in place, so if you try to access a1-wrestling.com, you'll get redirected to behindthesquredcircle.com. Same with the forum location, you'll get redirected to the new site. I expect the change will take up to a couple hours.
It's important to note, nothing will change in the new forum. I will customize the look and feel of it later, but for now, it's just a name change. It's exactly the same board and database, so we won't lose any posts, no one needs to sign up again, change their name, or anything. Just log in again at the new location and all the same forums and posts and everything will be as it is now.
