College Football Bowl Season 2010
« on: December 05, 2010, 11:03:36 PM »
Full Schedule is Here:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5168379

Notes:
Boise St. drops all the way to the Las Vegas bowl on the 22nd against Utah

PV's Hawkeyes take on Missouri at the Insight Bowl on the 28th.

Brandon's Clemson Tigers takes on South Florida at the Meineke Car Care Bowl on New Year's Eve

Notre Dame vs The U at the Sun Bowl

South Carolina vs Florida State at the Chik-Fil-A Bowl, that'll be a fun game to watch.

Florida takes on TH's Penn St. in the Outback Bowl

BAMA faces Michigan St. in a classic Big-10/SEC matchup at the Capital One Bowl

How Michigan got as high as the Gator Bowl vs Mississippi State is beyond me.

As predicted Wisconsin vs TCU in the Rose Bowl

Oklaahoma should kill their second Big East team when they take on UConn in the Fiesta bowl.

Stanford/Virginia Tech should be a very very good game.  I know people will predict that Stanford should kill VT, but I think VT will put up a god fight.

The Sugar Bowl with Ohio St vs Arkansas may be the best bowl game of the season, maybe the highest scoring one outside of the main event.

I don't get how some of these bowls like the Go Daddy.com, Compass Bowl and Kraft Fight Hunger bowls get scheduled during the BCS games, it should be the BCS as the main event and these smaller bowls as the undercard.

It's because ESPN televises all the bowl games, except for the Cotton.

Temple goes 8-4, beats the Big East's BCS representative, and gets shut out of a bowl game.  In this era, that's almost unheard of.

Better than the motor city bowl I suppose. Know there will be a lot of hawk fans at the insight bowl as we always travel well no matter what.

BCS is so fvcked up. Come on a one loss (and close one at that) Boise state team isn't in a game but a team like V-Tech who they beat and Uconn are?

If it wasn't for the fact the hawks are religion around here I'd give up on college football all together.

I'd be more pissed at this, but it's really 7-4 since their win over Villanova to open the season doesn't and shouldn't count in the bowl tallies. Still though, it sucks when you finish with that many wins and get shut out because you're not a name or won't "draw". Whatever though, I feel bad for those kids. They deserve a bowl.

Also, I think PSU has a chance to really make a statement and get some good momentum going into '11. Florida has trouble scoring on a drunk chick at a frat party. Couldn't have asked for a better bowl opponent.

Disappointing season for the Tide, but I'm intrigued by their bowl.  It would be really cool for BAMA to beat one of the Big 10 champions.  Also, Saban was Michigan State's coach before coming to LSU.  The Capital One Bowl should be fun.

Also CFA Bowl in ATL is interesting with Spurrier vs Noles.  Too bad Bobby isn't there.  If he was they probably wouldn't be playing in that high of a bowl though.

I think VT/Stanford will be competitive as well.

If this wasn't an era where every shitty 6-6 team with a 1-AA win gets to go to a bowl game, I wouldn't care.  But when the likes of Middle Tennessee State gets a bowl game, and Washington gets to go to the freakin' Holiday Bowl at 6-6, that's messed up.

Sure they could have.  They could've played anyone from the Big East. :)

The statement PSU beating Florida makes is "Hey, at least we aren't as bad as them."

To reasonable people like you and I, yes.

To the drooling idiot pundits on ESPN who are all like "HURRRRRRRR SEC", it's "Wow, Penn State was really good this year!" instead of "They got hot at the end, couldn't beat anyone good outside of Temple and beat a punchless Florida team that has a drooling simpleton as an offensive coordinator".

Drooling simpletons resent being compared to Steve Addazio.

That'd be FS's Florida vs. TH's Penn State.

I think Penn State's gonna win.

I'm a Louisville fan but they didn't deserve a bowl bi this year.

I think you need to go 7-5 OR be 6-6 with a winning conference record to be bowl eligible.

Louisville was only 3-4 in conference and shouldn't be in a bowl.

Someone on Twitter said that the UF coaching situation wouldn't change the dymanic for the Penn St game since Joe Paterno thinks Galen Hall is coaching Florida anyway.

Joe Paterno probably doesn't even know what Twitter is.  Or the internet.  Or computers.  Or even those fancy "videocassete recorders".

I'll see if I can find the presser where he talked about not knowing Twitter and called it something like "Twittle, Twattle."  It was pure JoePa.

Good job getting caught with coke, weed, and running a drug house DJK.

Just the best exclamation to a disappointing season.

Did you see the bullshit excessive celebration penalty in the Pinstripe Bowl.  The NCAA thinks it's better to penalize a kid for saluting the crowd and affect the outcome of a game.  Another piece of evidence why the NCAA sucks dick.  The SEC blew a couple like that last year and basically admitted it was ridiculous.  Saluting the crowd for three seconds isn't the "look at me penalty" that they make it out to be.  Seriously, I hate this sport sometime.  That rule is far more offensive than the action that was penalized.

BTW, the NCAA also thinks that they should start wiping points off the board in cases like this.  What a fucking terrible idea.  It's bad enough such a highly subjective call can affect the PAT, can you imagine what it's going to be like when these clowns can say, "He celebrated too much, NO TOUCHDOWN!"  Ridiculous.
