Gotta love UNC spiking the ball with a second to go with about 18 players on the field and the penalty only being 5 yards.

Sounds like the NFL has that rule right.  I don't see how you can reward UNC for what is essentially an illegal snap there.  That game should have ended with time running out due to the offensive penalty.  That's really stupid.

We should start a thread where we discuss some of the rules in football and pick which ones we like from NFL, which ones from college and which ones should be discarded or modified.  That might be interesting.

"Wrong choice buddy."

That's what the official said when he flagged the K-State player per the player.  He didn't do what a lot of officials do which is give him the knock it off and get to the sideline.  He said, "Wrong choice buddy" and flagged him in that moment.  What a douchebag that official is.

While I appreciate the "that's the rule" argument, you have to realize that they don't flag a ton of shit just like that every single week if not every single game.  Had it been more of a "look at me" type thing I might not be so worked up over it, but it was a fairly brief and understated celebration to be called "excessive."  "Wrong choice buddy" really irritates me.

My cousin called a ref "chief" in high school ball and the official said, "I'm not your chief" and penalized him.  Now that's funny.

Well Mike Haywood just took over at Univ of Pittsburgh and he's already beat someone.  No, not a team, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

A CUSA team beat a SEC team in a bowl game.

To those who slurp the SEC continuously: How, how, how does this happen?

UGA sucks.

BTW, after watching the replay I'm not even sure there should've been a second put back on in the UNC/Tenn game.  I mean if the ball hits the ground at one second then how do you also stop the clock at one second?  I don't care for the way they rule on the clock via instant replay because I think (in most cases) they handle the clock differently than they do at any other point in the game.  Now in the UGA game there should have been at least one second, possibly 2, on the clock when the operator let it run to 0:00 (they put 2 back up fwiw).

Thoughts?

I agree.  UGA sucks.  But seriously, yeah, the whole clock management thing is a joke at the end of the game.  If you added up all of the lost seconds during an average game where the clock should've stopped but ran off a second or two, then you'd probably extend every game by about 3 to 5 minutes.

It's even part of the rulebook in a sense because they've talked about how the play clock can hit 00, but it's not actually a flag before.  To me, that's a similar situation.  If you don't blow the play dead at the very moment the play clock hits 00, I don't think you can expect that as soon as the ball hits the ground the clock must be stopped.

So SCAR goes down as the worst SEC East champ ever, I suppose.  There was an Arkansas team out of the West that only got it because BAMA was bowl ineligible as well.  I think those two are probably the worst to rep the SEC in an SEC CG ever.

I might be forgetting someone though.

Looked it up and it would be 2002 Arkansas against 2010 South Carolina to make the worst SEC CG ever.

someone remind the big ten that it takes more than talk to beat sec teams during bowl games. You actually have to play the game on the field.

They really should have penalized Ahmad Black on the INT return for excessive celebration.  You could see the official yelling at him as he got to the goal line.  Far worse than the salute, yet again and no flag.  Yet another reason that rule is useless.

All the SEC needed to do to get right in bowl games was take on the Big 10 apparently.  Of course Wisconsin is by far the best team in the Big 10 and they won't play an SEC team.  I have a feeling tOSU is going to beat Arkansas in the Sugar as well.

Mike Price's Alabama career looks like Joe Paterno's Penn State one compared to this clown.

ESPN article about Haywood's firing.

Mike Price
George O'Leary
Mike Haywood

All fired before coaching their first game at their new schools. Pitt better make a call to Paul Chryst, Wisconsin OC as as the Rose bowl is over.

Freebird, I wouldnt worry to badly about Arkansas cause Ohio State hasn't beaten an SEC school in a BCS game. The SEC west teams are undefeated in games, the east is 1-3. :dash_mini:

I just don't have a lot of faith in Arkansas in a big moment (see BAMA game) regardless the SEC's dominance over tOSU in bowls.

TCU is feeding me a bucket full of crow.

Too bad The Big Don isn't watching it. His boys, TCU, are doing really well.  There's no shame in losing to TCU, but if Wisconsin doesn't pull this out the Big Ten in general is going to look really pathetic, moreso pathetic I should say.

Congrats to TCU and LOL to the Big Ten.

No shame in losing to TCU, like I said, but combine their most dominant looking team going down in the Rose with the ass beatings today and it doesn't look so good for them.

I don't think I mentioned it here, but TCU's helmets were great with the Horned Frog holding the rose in its mouth.

Loved TCU's helmet.

Non-AQ schools move to 5-2 in BCS bowls.

05 Fiesta: Utah over Pitt
07 Fiesta: Boise over OU
08 Sugar: Hawaii loses to UGA
09 Sugar: Utah over Alabama
10 Fiesta: Boise over TCU
11 Rose: TCU over Wisconsin
