Film buffs.  The kind that takes it waaaaay too seriously..

Video games, wrestling, comic books may get scoffed at, but film?  That's ART.  For arts sake.  God forbid anyone who even imply's a lesser motive (Like profit, or "fun")..

This one I agree with and you see a lot of fans look down on pro-wrestling for example while being obsessed with whatever it is they are obsessed with.  It's stupid.

Years ago when my fellow geeks would say "wrestling is so fake" my response was "and what Buffy The Vampire Slayer is real?"

When you take a trip to a public rec area, and find out all the portapoties and bathrooms are suddenly unavailable.

Edit:  Also, video ads on Android/iphone/mobile.  Those things eat a LOT of data, so you're basically paying for the privilege of viewing that latest Plentyoffish.com ad.

I usually just set my data to "off" after it loads if I need to browse a page for something.

Went to get a mole looked at.  Was sent to.an office sharing building space with about thirty other practices.

The entire parking lot was littered with "reserved" signs.  Reserved for spinal specialists, proctologists, ear, nose, and throat specialists...

I get that each practice wants to have space for their patients, but it's pretty damned impractical to expect a.patient to hunt for the one crop of parking spaces in a sea parking spaces.

In the end, I picked a spot and hoped for the best, and I have to wonder if others don't do the same.

Edit:  Read a story about MIT researching into 4chan's legacy as a meme generator.

Their conclusions:  It has lots of creative pre pubescent weirdos, and they all post whatever crazy idea pops into their heads because anonymous posting = no consequences.

Money well spent.   ???

Tbh, I'm more interested in how ideas/memes actually move OFF the site, and into the wider world.  Like, if A1wrestling makes a meme, it would probably die on A1.  Most Reddit sites, facebook pages, tweets would move images and memes around their little communities, and not far beyond.

But, stuff like Slenderman or Lolcats was EVERYWHERE.  I never followed 4chan, and I don't know anyone who did, but they all knew the memes, somehow.

Why not answer that, MIT genius's?  Not obvious enough for your rigorous researching methodology?

Inconsiderate/oblivious parents.

"Have fun playing kickball in the parking lot.  I'm sure the owners won't mind a cracked tail light or two."

Visited one car show where several parents actually let their kids lean against the cars..  Right there looking at them, with the owners basically glaring in stunned silence.  And when one guy speaks up, the parent snaps "You don't talk to my kid that way.  Only I get to discipline him."

Who could be that clueless?

Slenderman isn't actually from 4chan; it's from Something Awful. The thread that kicked it off was incredible.

All internet humor is "inside jokes".

Don't get me wrong, I've gotten laughs from my thing, but 9 times out of 10 when someone recommends some webcomic, webcast, or blog as hillarious, it's like they don't get that not everyone plays Halo, World of Warcraft, or plays Dungeons and Dragons, and might not get the humor..

Desktop 3d printing.  For all the hype, it just sucks right now.  You get better results from traditional craft methods..

Yeah, it'll improve over time like all tech, but by then they'll make it illegal to print really cool stuff.  Like an artificial heart, or a shotgun.

The New Haven Register, a fairly progressive rag, endorses him.  They ALWAYS endorse him.

Much as I hate social justice warrior types, I don't get why some forms of bigotry result in firings, demostrations, foaming at the mouth talking heads, yet others get a collective shrug or even an endorsement...

Than again, Bridgeport just re-elected a guy who was caught for stealing money, so...  maybe there are no rules.  Just lunatics running the asylum, no rules or consistancy to anything..

I hate the word latino, and it annoys me that people think if you're Hispanic you should be in favor of the criminals who come here illegally

You're at a red light trying to take a right, and the guy in the left lane keeps creeping out for no reason at all, blocking your view.

Weird Twitter.

Summing them up in a nutshell:

Quote
A popular trolling style was to tweet at corporate Twitter accounts with increasingly ridiculous complaints in an attempt to get an earnest response. It was soon discovered that @XboxSupport replied earnestly to any complaint, making it the biggest target.

Twitter trolls are why we can't have nice things.

Maybe one of you in tech can answer this:

My sisters phone recently became "incompatible" with Candy Crush.  I sideloaded it for her, and it works fine, including facebook syncs..

I looked into why the sudden incompatibility, and found out it has to do with cheap foreign made knockoffs.  (Fyi, hers is a Samsung)

Ok..  Why does it matter?  It costs nothing to let people with an unauthorized Chinese/Korean knockoff to download a free app, but it does cost something (Even if only a little bit more effort) to issue blanket bans/authorized product lists.

So, what's the motivation?

A guys stocking shelves at a supermarket, and I guess he was making too much noise for this lady that was on her phone.  Snapped "DO YOU MIND?!"

The guy just says "As a matter of fact, I do", and kept working.

Is it a CT thing?  I mean, you get jerks of all kinds, but telling someone off because you can't converse in a public place is a special kind of self entitlement.

I think that's a CT thing. I've never heard of that happening here in GA. Most would just let the guy work and walk to the next aisle

Probably not a regional thing as much as one moron complaining.  I've never seen anything like that.

What part of CT do you live in?

You're probably right.  Areas do make a pretty big difference in what you're more likely to encounter, though.  Even if it's only a different type of jerk.  :)

I go to two trails for jogging, for example.  Within 10 minutes of each other..  Only one of them has people let their dogs do whatever, off leash, and doesn't get them under control of they, say, jump all over a 6 year old kid and terrorize him.  (And even blames the angry family for not expecting loose animals..)

Think tanks.

Just the concept is offensive.  Why make up illuminati conspiracy theories, when we have real life policy institutes that basically perform the same function of brainstorming how to game the system and snow the general public?

I have lactose intolerance.  According to my doctor (which I verified through other sources), it's a myth that people with lactose intolerance can sub in goats milk, or milk from some other animal.

This myth has been passed around the internet for years.  Nobody does their fact checking.  I'd expect this of a random.blogger, but major news sources pass the myth around as fact, too.

To say this annoys me is an understatement..  How lazy are these people??  What if someone with a serious case believes it, and ends up in the er?

I mean, don't bare minimum standards even exist anymore?  Do the people running these operations just not care?  Even the respected ones?

People who use marketing terms when plugging a piece of technology.

Saw a guy basically out himself when someone casually claimed "But yeah, what do we care?  I don't have a stake in "X's" success, and neither do you."

To which he replied "But I DO have a stake."

Just another disinterested third party.

Edit:  Not that there's anything wrong with plugging something you have an interest in.

It's going about it in an underhanded way that I have a problem with.  Sometimes, I think most "specialized" boards have covert marketers, acting like one of the guys as they smear/plug whatever.
