Losing something, and having no idea how you did it.

And not even an important something. It's just, you can retrace your steps enough to rule out most possibilities, and can't even come up with something plausible, and the "how" drives you crazy..

I lost my cell phone like this a few months ago. I'm 99% certain it's in my apartment, and my apartment is super tiny, but the phone is just gone. I'm imagining myself, maybe years from now, packing everything up to move out, and finding it.

Speculators/collectors driving up prices in any given hobby.

Seems to happen to all of them. Good example is NES games used to sell for pennies, then people realize there's profit to be made, and suddenly your favorite Mario Games is 700 dollars used, disk only.

Annoyed at not knowing about this one a lot sooner:

Nasty tasting instant coffee becomes as good as regular coffee if you only add a little cold water first. Removes the bitterness, and makes it taste good even without cream/sugar..

Wish they had this on the labels. Would probably have reduced the stigma of instant if they had..

It just felt like Joss was trying to force a social message.

High class "friends for hire", I have no problem with. Or socially accepted prostitution, sure.

Add in the religious like worship they seemed to get, and it becomes a stretch.. You'd think companions were priests or spiritual leaders, the way they were treated. Moral authorities.

Felt forced, I thought.

Some people have odd ideas of what makes someone sympethetic..

There's no getting ahead with technology.

Generally, you've got two options: Pay premium prices for something that works, or spend less money and wind up with problems. There really isn't some "cheap, acceptable, luxury" tiering, it's either high priced luxury vs overpriced garbage, with 99% of products being sucker buys.

Videophiles and their "Turn it all off, you'll get used to the fuzzy" mantra, when piping sub hd signals into an hdtv.

I'm sorry, but I'll take losing details on a low def signal over getting used to a fuzzy image.

I do agree hd programming doesn't need it, though.

I THINK Daniel is talking about a standard Definition signal that comes in fuzzy in regards to a high-Def tv where it'll try to stretch a 4:3 image to 16:9. Just a guess thoigh

Yeah, standard def on an hdtv.

General word of thumb from places like the avs forums is to turn off all image processing, all the time. But if you're looking a standard definition signal, that usually leaves you with a really fuzzy looking image.

If it was only videoophiles and movie buffs who claimed "unprocessed and fuzzy" is the correct way to set up an hdtv for sd video, I wouldn't mind, but it seems everyone everywhere repeats the logic.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not going on about how they "ruined the country" or whatever..

It's just, we have a lot of baby boomers around here. And any time someone does/says something messed up, it's usually a boomer.

"I'd never vote for a black guy", or screaming some bigoted thing at an asian woman on a bus. I've never seen that from the "greatest generation", and I rarely, if ever, see it from younger types.. (At least not in public..)

You were right about Patron. It IS excellent. AND pricey. 29.95 for 720ml here in CT.

They also has a coffee variety, of the same volume and about !0 dollars cheaper. Might buy it next time, and see how it goes in some decaf.

Elevator lurkers.

You press the button on the elevator, and wait for the doors to open. There's someone in there, but they don't step out. Then, just as you move to get on the elevator, the moron comes to the conclusion that THIS is the floor number he pressed, and proceeds to walk off, always meeting you at the pinch-point of the door.

Look, the damn thing has a display of floor numbers, and beeps every time it passes a floor. Even with my expensive noise-cancelling headphones on, I know when my floor is coming up, and move toward the doors so I can step off immediately. People cannot be this stupid, can they?

I checked with Gamestop about a few games I saw on ebay/amazon. 19.95, in stock. "But they sell for 100+ online", I told them.

They tell me those are scams. The people are most likely not selling them, or on occasion buy them FROM THEMSELVES to make it look like they're selling.

If this is true, is it legal? That's deceptive and underhanded...
