while not a fan of anything DC-related (except watchmen i guess) I do have an appreciation for comic books in general, and this kind of shit pisses me off.

so, all the more reason for me to continue not buying anything DC-related

how so?   :o

isn't DC the company that had to do a huge storyline (in crisis) to merge their 100s of different universes, basically retconning a ton of characters together into one universe?

Well they had House of M temporarily, but I think this will be temporary as well.

As someone whose had very little interest in comics the last couple of years since Sinestro Corps wrapped up, Loeb left Superman/Batman to write horrible stuff for Marvel, and Batman dying for a bit, I'm going to give this a chance. It's the perfect scenario for me to start back up or decide if I want to.

Pretty sure Marvel reset several titles with #1's only to go back to the original numbers a year or two later.

I will say that this does have it's redeeming qualities. Obviously new or casual fans will not have to worry about having to learn years of backstory on characters, or scowering Wikipedia for history. You can start reading now and that's it.

the #1s didn't reboot the characters tho and they didn't do it to 50 titles in 1 month.

House of M was a set storyline with the plan always being that everything would go back to normal.

anyway, i think i read that this isn't really a reboot in the true sense of the word.  i think they'll just tweak some characters here and there.  the biggest thing will be them likely getting rid of batman corps.

It could be DC's Ultimate type universe, same origins, just a fresh take on them. Batman's parents should still die.

That's sort of what I'm hearing.  It's not erasing everything that's happened, just changing some things about it.  One of the new Green Lantern titles is centered around Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns, so at least some storylines will continue.

I'm cautiously optimistic.  The reason being is that from what's been announced so far, I hope this gets people to give them a fair shot.  You've had a great Firestorm, Blue Beetle, Manhunter series, but people didn't buy for whatever reasons, so I'm hoping people will give some of those a shot.

that's more or less the feeling my real life geek brethren have. Mainly they'll be cool with it if the stories are good.

You like a Superman symbol scotch taped to Superboy's back?

Rob Liefeld's art.

And he's going to actually be doing some monthly art in the Hawk and Dove reboot.  We'll see how long that lasts.

I liked Monarch.

Looks like with today's announcement's some of the Wildstorm characters are getting integrated into the new DCU as well.

Tomorrow we should have the Superman announcements.

I can only imagine that's the non-Kryptonian Superboy because I can't imagine how a Kryptonian would be able to get a tattoo.

Since he's a clone, I assume that's a bar code.

Brett Booth actually.

Looks like Stormwatch is now a part of the DCU, along with gay-superman, Apollo and gay-batman, Midnighter.

as well as Grifter.
