wrestling took a back seat to talking, non-wrestler pull apart, commentating, and commercials.  kinda russo-esque.

but it was very entertaining.

Commercials during the match predated Russo. If anything, free TV matches would be tailored to be short so they could fit in BS between commercial breaks. That segment put over three stories well, and the last thing seen was Jericho liontamering Punk. I don't see how that was putting over the NPC feud over everything else.

Yeah, Russo made every match short strictly to avoid commercial breaks.

come on dude.  first, i said it was damned entertaining.  but you focus on russo-esque?

before second guy gets to ring we have a 10 minute promo.
2 commercial breaks.
long shots of commentators
outside interference...3 times.
no finish.
after the match is called, focus is on pull apart between two figure heads.

now, to repeat, i enjoyed every bit of that (except the commercials and cams that lingered on commentators instead of in ring action).

it was KINDA russo-esque.  KINDA.

yeesh.

The Miz could go from WM Main event to being completely left off the card in 1 year.

And DB goes from completely off the card to a World Title match.

how the hell was big show the heel in his feud with mayweather?  mayweather hits him when he's on his knees...then runs like hell.  then mayweather uses brass knucks to win?  the world is upside down.

iirc, he wasn't really the heel.  The crowd turned on Maryweather so they made Maryweather the heel.

Torgo's right, they tried to make Mayweather the face when they first started the feud, but as it got closer to WrestleMania, they noticed his heel-ish antics so they started to portray him as the heel.

and there's the big difference between rock and cena.  you run down the rock and he gets pissed.  you run down cena and he...smiles?  he's a goofball.  they could continue to push him to the moon and keep him entertaining if he would show some emotion when someone punked him.

best raw i've seen all year.

Wow.  I think Cena genuinely rattled The Rock.  That was awesome.  Rock was having trouble gaining his footing after that.

I'd say the guy was acting since actor, but he did look legitimately rattled and pissed off.

I think it was the fact that Cena pointed out The Rock's notes on his wrist.  And I actually thought Cena was pretty awesome there, minus the smiling, but that's ok at this point.

Nah, Rock is just so damn good he is working everyone by acting legit pissed. Unreal. Cena is the only guy fans will buy talking to Rock like that. That is why it is Cena's belt, and Punk is just holding it for him.

I thought the same thing, Cena killed it too.

He came off as a cool heel honestly. I liked it. It wasn't the normal goofball, douchebag smile that Cena usually has. It was the "I got you good and you know it, bitch" type of smile.

i'm not saying cena wasn't good.  he was.  but when he came out, he was all smiles...after being run down for 10 mins straight, he was all smiles.  goofy.

I disagree.  It worked in his favor this time, because he one upped The Rock on insults, imo.

I saw a tweet from someone:

"The Rock is starting to shoot on the boys in the back."

Anyone who doesn't follow wrestling would get a completely different meaning from that sentence.

I saw it more as Cena deflecting Rock's talking points by accepting them sarcastically. Great promo from Cena. Rock, on the other hand, spent too much time letting the crowd cut his promo for him, and by the time he had to reply to Cena, got flustered.
