FCW is Dead
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:33:07 AM »
http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/251625-report-wwe-shutting-down-developmental-territory-fcw

What stars have FCW made? Either the booking in WWE sucks(not gonna rgue that), or they just are being developed properly down there. The biggest stars that were in FCW learned their craft elsewhere. Bryan, Barrett, Sheamus and Alberto learned the craft well before they were signed. Now, the next wave will probably be Tyler Black, Jon Moxley and the Kings of Wrestling. Obviously, they were talented well before they came to Florida.

No word on their new home yet, but it may be in Connecticut as they asked the wrestlers to head up there. Pretty good location, IMO. Able to get more hands on knowledge with veterans and management so they know what to expect. Downside is, it's perfect for McMahon to tinker and ruin it.

FCW is a black hole. They teach you not to play to the audience. It doesn't make any sense!

It's probably also the reason people were down on Del Rio's FCW work, but when he showed up on Smackdown he was all of a sudden amazing.

I watched way more FCW than I should've.  It's just kinda like a bizarro world watching guys like Ricardo (top 100 worker btw) come out like a regular Superstar.

FCW hasn't helped anybody really.  The guys who are doing well out of there like Sheamus, Drew, Wade and DB already had the skills anyway.

I don't see why they are going to Stamford with it though - wouldn't it make more sense to run it out of a wrestling-crazy town?

According to Steve Keirn and an updated report by PWInsider, it's staying open. Its TV was just canceleld.

It makes just as much sense as their offices being located in CT.

Who is the unreliable online news source?

http://www.f4wonline.com/ among others (if the denial is true). You may need to scroll

My guess is a little of both are true. WWE is restructuring their developmental, which may involve relocating the FCW staff. Which effectively kills FCW in name. But that's just my thought.

on WOLive today they said they are just getting rid of TV, and most likely moving everyone up to stamford for the time being

FCW will not be around in its current form, but there still will be developmental and it could go back to Florida

alverez had the idea of splitting them up int o a east coast/west coast developmental league

that could be fun

Why you are assuming Meltzer got it wrong?  Read the HHH "interview" carefully, and it's a pretty half-assed denial.  They admit that they're restructing developmental, but deny that they're closing FCW.   As I said on your blog, don't be shocked if three months from now we're talking about how FCW has been "restructured" and is either somewhere else in Florida or moved altogether.

There is also the question of the TV, which by most accounts was cancelled by...WWE.  Not Bright House.  Why cancel your own TV if you plan on keeping the promotion going?

Vince is such a psycho I really wouldn't put it past him to completely change plans and lie if Meltzer reported something that was supposed to be a secret.

Like JB said, who cancels their own TV if they still want the promotion to be run? The problem with the FCW guys really isn't with their ability to wrestle, it's with their ability to connect with an audience.

If I had to speculate, I'd say that this was in the works for a while and was intended to be announced after WM when they do the post-PPV purge.  But for whatever reason they had to give notice to get out of their Bright House deal, and once they did the story leaked from the network side.  Because they probably don't have finalized plans for what they're doing with developmental post-WM, they had to go into damage control mode.

Again, I can't imagine there won't be a developmental territory, and I can't imagine said territory won't have TV.  And I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed in Florida because there are economic advantages to saying there.
