Post season 2010 thread
« on: October 03, 2010, 07:23:02 PM »
This is it.

Predictions and all that.

I also realize how well us a1ers are represented this year.

Philly fans: Tom, numbers, spoiler
Yanks fans: Smug, edge, pebble (though can't remember if he follows anymore) dorian
Giants fans: weaz, bryce, chus
Braves fans: Dubs, sup, stf

So we're well represented this off season

I see a rematch of the '08 Series, but at this point, I can see a lot of options going forward. About the only team I don't see going far is Minnesota and that's only because Gardenhire is a choke artist.

Yep that's precisely why the Twins won't go far.

Obviously I hope I'm totally wrong about this but I called Philly from the start and will stick to that

NL

Giants over Braves in 4
Philly over Reds in 3

Philly over Giants in 7 (I think our staff is good enough to at least give you a nice run)

AL

Yankees over Twins in 4
Rays over Rangers in 4

Rays over Yankees in 6

World Series
Phils over Rays in 7

I hate to say this, but Joe Nathan isn't around to bail the Yankees out this season with his gagging ways. The way the Yankees have played for the last 60 games, I think the Twins win in 4.

Yankees are playing horribly lately, I definitely see an early exit for the champs.  I don't know what the fuck happened, but I don't like it.

They got old and stopped giving a shit. They won't be in the playoffs for long.

Totally agree, they don't have the eye of the tiger.  I don't know how you can be disinterested being the reigning champs, but whatever.

Nobody in the AL has much momentum heading into the playoffs. The Twins still have to prove it to me to believe this year is any different. The Rays have a tough draw with Lee and Wilson in the first 2 games.

Why was my posts deleted?

Because I got sick of them spamming up a thread where people were trying to have an actual grown-up conversation about the playoffs just so you could troll a single person.

But, speaking of which, didn't you challenge me to bet you about the Phillies beating the Brave for the East and then conveniently disappear for a week after I accepted and offered you a chance to name the terms?

I responded less than 5 hours (and a mere 3 posts) after you made the challenge..

The Rays have also been playing like shit lately, both teams are lucky Boston didn't surge at the end. Minnesota never goes anywhere in the playoffs and I don't see that changing. Yanks by far have the most postseason experience, at the risk of sounding like a homer I don't see them not making the series again for a total repeat of last year. Though Philly is on fire, so the WS can go either way.

I really wish you hadn't.

1. Because I clearly was honoring my bet with him. Showed proof and he still didn't believe me.

2. Because the non trolling questions of Cox aside I thought I had some great questions

But outside of CC who do you really have? He'll have to be gold all his starts.

Considering the Braves fell ass backwards into the post season and are lucky to even be there, anyone predicting them winning the world series have got to be on some serious crack

who predicted the Braves to win the world series? certainly not me. in fact i havent since 2003. we dropped 907 runs that year. i predicted the braves to win the pennant and lose to the yankees in 7 this year.

obviously its silly to expect the braves to go anywhere without  chipper or their season MVP (prado), but they still have great starting pitching and a dominant bullpen so who knows? derek  lowe won pitcher of the month in september, and hudson and hanson can shut down anybody.

braves over giants in 5
phils sweep reds

rays over tex in 4
yanks over twins in 5

phils over braves in 5
rays over yanks in 6

phils over rays in 5...im not touching this with actual money though. the phils struggle against lefties and price is the best lefty in baseball. this is probably more of a coinflip tbh, but with home field advantage the phils should be fine.
