Had a Job Interview Today and...
« on: January 09, 2013, 03:01:12 PM »
He told me he wanted to see me for a second interview and that he normally doesn't tell people that on the first interview. Sounds good, unless he just wants to fuck me and not hire me. Like the other guys.

Anyway, he wants me to e-mail him my references but I wanted to also thank him for the interview but I suck at writing letters like that. Can anyone help out? Also, any sarcastic responses should be funny if they are going to be time wasting. I want top notch trolling if there will be any trolling at all.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joseph P.S. Arminante

If you're including the thank you as part of the email with your references, something like - "Attached are the references you requested. I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to sit down with you and talk about the position - it was great meeting you. If you'd like to set another time to meet, feel free to call or e-mail me anytime.

Regards,

blah blah

Can't improve on that ^

Keep in mind though it took me 15 months to find my current job.

I have a part-time job now, but this will be full time. This economy is garbage, I don't care what bullshit forecasts say it's improving. Creating government jobs so people can be in charge of organizing paper clips isn't a real job.

Government is losing jobs not adding them. Getting better is different from being good.

Blacklite has the idea with the response but since they have already asked about a second interview just give him your availability. That of course being anytime.

I have 2 interviews today and one tomorrow. So I am looking too.

How is the job situation in Canada?  We all know the US sucks right now, but I don't hear much about our friends up north.

It is better here, much better actually. We are adding 50% of the jobs you are in most months, with 1/10th the size the growth is good.

If you ever get nervous on a job interview, think of me, and you will smile.

You told me that about going on a date with a chick about 10 years ago, and I use that piece of advice whenever anyone tells me they are going to do something that makes them nervous. Maybe the funniest thing I ever read on here, that and "nigook".

The interview was with the Anheuser Busch. I told them their beer was for 16 year old girls who aren't popular.

Second interview is sometime this week. I have not decided on whether I will offer oral sex up front, or wait until the interview turns sour before I offer it.

Had a 2nd interview today with the Accountant, it went pretty well. He stressed some concerns over wanting someone with more schooling in accounting, but then he realized that if you had that the job wouldn't be for a Bookkeeper and you'd have to jack that salary up something fierce. They said they would let me know in the next few days. I am cautiously optimistic.

Do I have to send another thank you e-mail for this too?

I'm not sure that I would. I would probably wait until they made a decision. If they hire someone else, maybe hit them with a short note thanking them again for their consideration, and hope you have the opportunity to talk with them again in the future.

Yes.  Send another email.  This one is probably more important than the first.

What should this email state that the first didn't?

Thank him for meeting with you again and giving you the opportunity to learn more about the company and the position.  Express some enthusiasm at the prospect of working there and invite him to contact you if he needs any further information from you (or perhaps a foot rub).

What you are really looking for is a way to differentiate yourself from the other candidates that he is interviewing and keep your name at his fingertips.

It should be your subject line.

Truly,

And then include another letter that says something like, "Thank you for the second interview. I really look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate the value I can bring to your company. I will blow any of you on demand for the first six months of employment."

Good luck, second interviews are usually a god sign that they really like you. I had one yesterday and got a job offer today. Less money than I expected but something to work with. I haven't accepted yet but I will. I did send some questions back about the offer to get the value of the offer.
