Swagger was doing 55 in a 45 and he had a small amount of marijuana on him and in his system. The amount in his system would equate to 3 times UNDER the legal limit for drinking. So, while the WWE surely isn't happy, he wasn't shooting heroin while an underage prostitute blew him. He isn't a Kennedy.

If the plan was for him to win the title at Mania, I think he will still win the title.

Yeah apparently "DUI" in this case has nothing to do with liquor, the DUI charge simply comes from the fact that they found pot on him and believed he had some in his system. So he wasn't even drunk, just pot.

Who's making excuses? He still broke the law and violated the wellness policy. The news story says "DUI and possession", which makes it sound like he was drunk AND smoking pot, which is not the case. He just had pot on him.

I dunno, do we typically punish people as offenders just because they've been arrest and accused? Or should we allow due process to take its course before rendering judgement and meting out punishment?

Given that he was only charged with misdemeanors, I might argue that the cops aren't really considering it a biggie either.
