Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
« on: March 24, 2013, 02:26:44 AM »
A North Korean terrorist group takes the president, vice president, secretary of state and others hostage in the White House. They are extremely smart and have planned for every scenario, except oneL former secret service agent and special forces Mike Banning, who is a one man army killing machine that understands mad men and all the ins and outs of the White House better than anyone.

The plot is directly taken from the original Die Hard. Mike is the only contact the outside world has inside the White House and it's pretty much up to him to save the country.

The movie is a blood bath and delivers on the action part of action movie. Butler is great and believable as a Jack Bauer/Liam Neeson type killing machine.

The movie isn't very plausibe, white male president set in modern day? Thankfully Morgan Freeman takes over as acting president and it all feels very familiar with him.

Really good action movie. It's exactly what's advertised.

Wasn't Morgan Freeman (Robin Hood, Men in Tights) also the President in 24?

No, Pedro Cerrano was President in 24, Morgan Freeman was President in Deep Impact

Pedro (The Real World - Miami) was deceased by the time 24 came along, I thought? Deep Impact was the Tommy Lee biopic, wasn't it?

Morgan Freeman was The President in Deep Impact (asteroid hits Earth the same year Bruce Willis fought an Asteroid in Armageddon).

The Allstate Insurance guy was The President in 24.
