Metroid: Other M
« on: September 01, 2010, 08:59:42 AM »
Got it, beat it.. Took me 11 hours, and that was with dying quite a bit.. So the length was disappointing. I do hate the plot device everyone's been complaining about of Samus needing permission to activate her powers. The story isn't as bad as reviews have said, although the voice actor for Samus sounds like a 17 year old emo anime voiceover actress, which I imagine she is.

Everything else about the game is great. There is more action in this one than in any of the others, graphics are great. It's an awesome, but flawed game, still a definite buy.

Not really, after you beat it, you can go back to the ship and get all the crap you missed, but that's about it. I don't know if this counts as "replay value", but I do have
the desire to actually replay the game, it was good enough for that. Usually when people talk about replay value they mean hidden extras, other modes, multiplayer.. If that
is what you mean, then no, not really.

That's kind of off-putting when discussing the length of it.  I really want to play this game and the $15 off coupon I have for it is calling my name.  I just don't know if it's really worth the purchase.

If you're using the cupon, it's definitely worth $35, no doubt. But that's about the limit for what I would pay for it.

I went into nerd rage at first when playing this game, because the Metroid series was god to me. The original Metroid, along with the original Zelda, are the reasons I knew I was going to be a lifelong gamer.

The game is a solid B..... which is unfortunate because I went in expecting an A+, because that's the standard that was set. I had to step back, calm down, and start playing again, and realize "it's not bad at all", but it should never come to that with a holy trinity Nintendo game.

It's definitely the "Super Mario Sunshine" of the series.

The boss fights look cool.

Do they play as good as they look?

Yes, the boss fights are the high point of the game for me... and the bosses are HARD, Ridley almost made me whip my controller across the room.

That's a good thing.  :D

One of the most disappointing aspects of Zone of the Enders:  Second Runner is how I could breeze through the bosses with my eyes closed.

The important thing, is that they're hard but fair..  E.g., you know you lost because of bad tactics/skill, not cheap game mechanics..
