Amazon XBox 360 Game Trade Up Program
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:45:16 AM »
So, the X1 isn't out yet, and you don't want to buy a game now for your 360 and then buy it again for the X1. Problem solved.

Amazon will let you buy a qualifying game now for your 360, and then upgrade to the X1 version for only $9.99.

There's 8 qualifying games, but they're all brand new top titles.

So instead of someone foregoing a last gen game, and only buying the next gen one, now MS motivates people to pay the 60 bucks up front now, and pay an extra 10 dollars down the line..  They're not really losing money, if the gamer would only opt on one console version.

And people love their deals.

Pretty slick move.

my guess is this is less about selling games and more about selling consoles.

I think it's a bit of both and a smart move on Amazon's part. Microsoft is already requiring all the companies releasing games for current gen before next gen is out to have the user's game data/dlc transfer over.  That is a huge deal with some of those games such as CoD.  So Amazon is just cashing in on it and further building a loyal customer base.

Anything that fucks Gamestop, and similar stores, in the ass is perfectly fine by me.
