HHH's Earth Shattering Announcement on the Steve Austin Show
« on: February 03, 2015, 12:38:01 AM »
"Three hours sucks."--HHH

I may be misquoting him, but that's the gist.

The podcast was great, but it is so bizarre how they promoted it on RAW.  They ended RAW with the HHH character saying he's going to explain everything on the podcast, and we get the Talking Dead.  Or Talking RAW.  It's all great for us, but they probably shouldn't have announcers and wrestlers promoting it on the actual RAW program.  It's like Rick Grimes telling Carl to watch Talking Dead.

Other than that, good stuff.

The only time he came off as not genuine was when he was talking about Punk. He was kind of bs'ing his way around that.

His thoughts on Chyna were interesting. I can see why they don't want to be associated with her. She did it to herself.

Altho if you google her name it's pretty harmless. But I can still see a shitstorm if they induct a current porn star. They should probably wait about 10 or 15 years on that.

I enjoyed it, but it's strange hearing them talk about the business as a 'business'.

No shades of gray here.  This is a story, we change it as needed.  Pull the curtain down and burn it on the fire.

I just find it odd that there is no even trying to kayfabe it anymore.

Kayfabe is long dead and should be.  Trying to kayfabe in 2015 is far worse than acknowledging that this is all a performance.  The issue isn't the death of kayfabe though, it is how the product is treated during the performance.  Meaning that kayfabe is dead and should be, but when I sit down to watch WWE programming I have to believe that all of this matters to those on my screen.  You can freely admit that wrestling is "fake" and still put on a compelling wrestling show.

I saw someone post a transcipt of the last verbal exchange on RAW and the first verbal exchange on the podcast. Renee Young asked HHH what he thought of Daniel Bryan winning, or something, and HHH said you can find that out next on the podcast, in character and acting like he was going to respond in character. It actually made me worried the podcast would be some stupid in character shit. And then the podcast starts and the first thing out of Steve's mouth is "Is kayfabe dead?" and HHH responding with "Yeah, it's dead." lolol
