Been reading Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man, which is excellent, and came across this scene that's pretty funny after seeing how Rip Hunter acts on the show.
Basically, Animal Man loses his family, and he gets the crazy idea of getting a time machine. So after a few dead ends, he contact Booster Gold and has him get Rip. Of course, Rip Hunter gives him a lecture about how fooling with time is dangerous, the machines are VERY expensive, and they can't just let an amateur hop around time. Then Rip finally asks what he even needs it for.
And Animal Man looks him in the eye and says "The Time Commander and the Lord of Time have teamed up against the Justice League. I need a time machine to track down their base."
And just like that, Rip hands over a machine. Doesn't even check with Booster or the JLA.
I guess Rip Hunter's always been kind of a shmuck, and not just on the tv show.
