Because the last beer thread is locked up with Taxi Driver.

I've come to a revelation: I'm a stout guy, through and through. You can take your wheats, IPA's, pumpkins, porters.. Just leave me with a chocolate, oat, Imperial.. ESPECIALLY Imperials.

I know stouts aren't for everyone, and ten/fifteen years ago I could barely finish my first Heart of Darkness, but I guess tastes change.

Too bad most stouts are so expensive.

There is a beer made by Budweiser of all people called Oculto, infused with blue agave and aged in tequila barrels. It's light and a little citrusy, pretty good

Is it comparable to a Shock Top? Or more like a Corona, maybe?

Got this in a bomber/pint/growler

Double barrel bouron aged, and has a bite to prove it.

This is a fantastic beer. Not as good as ten fidey, but still very good.

Granted, my palate can't really taste the flavors experts claim they taste. Peat, vanilla, tin, leather... It all tastes like beer to me.

This is the stuff. It might not be the best Imperial Stout ever, but that's only because other limited edition stouts are impossible to get. And this is near the top regardless.

About 10-11 bucks for 12 bottles here in CT, so nearly a dollar a bottle. That's less then Bud and Coor's, and it's actually drinkable.

I'd assume it's even cheaper in states that don't have outrageous sin taxes or a package store association artificially shoring up prices (The argument is that the big chains shouldn't be able to undercut the small mom and pop stores, so make everybody charge inflated small shop prices. CT...

)

Youngs double chocolate stout is one I'd highly recommend to anybody. It's kind of like a hot chocolate that's cooled down. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Really easy drinking.

Comes in a bottle and a can, but I've never tried the bottle. I know the can has nitro though, which tends to make beers more like a draft.

As for what I'm trying tonight:

Only just discovered Old Rasputin. It's an Imperial, in the Russian style (My first), and it's rated even higher then Ten Fidy. Yet it costs about 6 bucks less. Ten dollars and change after taxes.

Try and find a top shelf Imperial stout that's 2.50 a bottle.

I guess it's no worse then those stupid barley water/liquid fasts? Still, doesn't sound too healthy, as this doesn't exactly sound like a well rounded diet..

They had samples of this Tequila. White and gold on offer. I ask the difference, and they feed me some line about white being less spicy, and intended for women.

But when I look up "white tequila", I find gold IS white with coloring in it.

Were they just ignorant sales people.

Gold is aged longer. I wouldn't call white less spicy but the gold is supposedly more flavorful

Was looking around for another Imperial stout, when I noticed all the pumpkin beers. Guess the seasons arrived for them, so decided to change things up.

This is supposed to be one of the best Pumpkin ales. I don't have much experience with them, but it IS tasty.. Kind of like a pumpkin pie in beer form. Strong, too, at about 8 and a half abv.

Much better then Shipyard pumpkin beer, at any rate.

Been trying a lot of pumpkins, and came to the conclusion it just isn't for me. So, I picked out a new Imperial Stout called Victory: Storm King.

I like it, but it has me a little confused. It's supposed to have a lot of hops.. I mean, a LOT of hops. There aren't many beers that have more.

Yet, I like it more then less hoppy beers. This might be sacrilegious to admit, but I normally don't like hops.. Can't stand the flavor, which is why I don't drink IPA's. So that means, there must be something in Storm King that I do like, and there's enough of it to balance out the hops? Malts, I guess? Am I into malts?

Unless hops come in different flavors? Like, the kind in Bud makes me.sick, and that's the most common "beer" flavor..

A good review of Storm King, by Victory.

Dark, rich coffee about sums up the appeal. I love the full bodies dark brews, so this beer is right up my alley. And it's the only 4 bottle Imperial I've found that's priced at 8.99, where 10-14 is the norm, so a single 10 dollar bill is all you need without scraping for change or breaking down a 20 too badly.

Anyways, kind of a random question: How accurate are ABV values on craft beer? Asking, because I'm feeling the effects of my second 10 Fidy rated at 10% ABV, yet two beers rated at 9.2% or 8% won't have anywhere near the same buzz.

Surely, 1% difference won't have that big a difference, will it?

Hell, eve two or three shots of 80 proof whiskey doesn't get me this buzzed..

Try drinking them on an empty stomach.

Gorged myself on about 20 wings for lunch, including ghost pepper (Can still feel the burning), so I'm not really hungry for food.

Thinking of getting a tequila.

I think my last one was..... Jose Cuervo? Gold label.

And that would be my only experience with Tequila. No idea if it was good or not with that sort of experience, but I'd like to try a good one. Any recommendations?

Camarena is about as good but less pricey
