DC fans will noticed several references to other figures in The DC Universe. Of course we see Doomsday near the end squaring off against the trio of Bats, Supes, and Wonder Woman.

Here are some of the other potential references you might have missed if you blinked.

Henshaw

At approximately :50 in, there is a rocket ship exploding upon takeoff, and Superman is rescuing presumably the crew in the cockpit. It may be a stretch, but Cyborg Superman, aka Hank Henshaw, was an astronaut who gained Superman’s powers through a metallic body. However, he had made it into space and returned, whereas in this depiction, the accident happens on Earth. Plus, if the DC Movie Universe has any connection with the “Arrow-verse”, fans are already enjoying Hank Henshaw in the Supergirl series on CBS.

batsrobin

At approximately 1:00, we see Bruce Wayne looking at a costume with the very Joker-like saying “HA HAH The joke’s on you Batman”. Bruce even mentions problems with “freaks dressed like clowns”. If you look closely, you’ll see that it’s a Robin suit. This could be a reference to the classic Death In The Family story where Joker killed the second Robin, Jason Todd. We have seen footage of the same Batmobile from Batman v Superman on the set of Suicide Squad, so it would appear that both movies are in a continuity with each other.

braniacship

At 1:40, while Bruce is talking about how he believes Superman brought about a war, we see him gazing up at an alien ship over the city. The ship clearly has a skull shaped body, which would definitely imply that it’s one of Brainiac’s Harvester ships used to gather resources from planets.

Parademons

Batman is struggling with some police or military personal at 2:07 while several flying creatures are buzzing around. These very much look like Parademons, who are of course the henchmen of Darkseid, one of Supermans most popular enemies.
