According to Meltzer, he wanted to quit but somehow WWE blocked that from happening. It sounds similar to the Mysterio situation where he wants out but WWE is keeping him in. I'm not even saying that as a bad thing because I think WWE is genuinely concerned for his health.

That said, I find it funny that his retirement is happening at the same time his Tide commercial debuts that puts him over as an underdog.

Supposedly he had some tests done prior to the Rumble and the results of those tests convinced him it was time to retire.

The only thing I heard about him and his contract was WWE refused his request for a contract release. I think with Rey WWE used a stipulation in their contracts where they could be reimbursed injury time in a sense and extend a contract deadline.

A lead story on f4wonline by Meltzer is pays tribute to Danielson's career. This means that if it's a work then either a) Meltzer is taking part in the work or b) he's getting worked. Both of which question his integrity when posting breaking news.

That said, if it's a shoot, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Danielson wrestles elsewhere after his contract is up.

What are the odds on Bryan genuinely announcing his retirement...but being cleared for ONE MORE MATCH? If fucking Tommy Dreamer is getting cleared for matches, I can assume docs can clear Bryan for 20 more minutes of in ring action as long as he stays away from head trauma.

I really hope that's what happens. Like...he challenges The Undertaker or someone. I mean technically he still announces his retirement, right?! He'll just have one match left before it happens.

I think that was part of the problem, remember when he came back the last time, he didn't adjust his style at all.

It doesn't appear to be an angle. Hard to believe his career is over at 34. Seattle was probably the best place to do this.

THANK YOU Daniel Bryan and a massive FUCK YOU to Vince McMahon, WWE and WWE Creative.

It's great that Bryan was given an opportunity to be in the WWE and it's wonderful that he is grateful for that. I admire him for that tremendously.

But I can't help to feel angry at Vince McMahon and his fixation on a 'wrestler's size' and their 'look.' The entire time that Daniel Bryan wrestled for WWE, he had the legs cut out from under him. Not to mention getting buried on TV weekly by the announcers until the crowds' reactions were more than they could ignore and getting buried by HHH and Stephanie. Creative didn't seem to know what to do with him either so they pair him with Kane and he succeeded despite their best efforts.

This should be a wake up call to the WWE and creative -- when you get a wrestler that crowds seem to be getting behind and people actually pay money to see, don't push Roman Reigns or Sheamus or Ryback or any of the 'wrestlers' that Vince McMahon think are great.

In a perfect world, Daniel Bryan would be WWE champion right now and he would be feuding with CM Punk, Cesaro, KENTA and Samoa Joe. WWE would realize they need to be about wrestling, not entertainment since they can barely do entertainment that well anyway.

At the same time, Daniel Bryan really didn't do himself any favors with his style but I will be very happy that he had his chance. Just not sure I'll watch or follow the WWE anymore because they'll continue to make the same boneheaded mistakes.

Yeah. I remember yelling at my TV when he'd bump on his head/neck and the fucking headbutt battles he kept doing with Ziggler were beyond anything he should have been doing.

He talked more about the test that convinced him to retire, saying he's had concussion related seizures for a long time that he's hid from everyone. The latest test revealed that he has a lesion on the part of the brain responsible seizures.

It's been reduced to 60. Have you seen the video of it? He didn't do anything really. Looked like he was just trying to shake his hand or something...

Apparently the WWE is removing video's of Bryan's farewell in response to this too which just sounds like they're using this as an excuse to try and bury him one last time

SMH. They give him a half hour overrun on RAW, building up to it the entire show...and then they're going to concoct some sort of weird plan with Titus O'Neil to try and "bury" Daniel Bryan?

Woah. Based on what Daniel Bryan says, he needed to retire (no amount of yelling "push Daniel Bryan!" should work if he's literally going to die in the ring with a bad bump). I stand corrected. Except for the WWE burying Daniel Bryan when he wrestled.

So let me get this straight -- the WWE builds Raw around Daniel Bryan's retirement announcement, post videos, Bryan talks about it on ESPN and the actual reason, they start pulling them in response? And Titus O'Neil grabs Vince's arm and Vince looked like he was trying to fight Titus?

Kneejerk reactions from Vince McMahon will continue to happen until he dies.

WWE has a added Daniel Bryan's Greatest Moments to the Collections section on the Network. Just watched his tryout match as American Dragon (with a mask!) before a Smackdown from February 2000. It is a tag match that also includes Spanky/Brian Kendrick and Lance Cade. Cade looked way taller than I remember him. There's an awesome dive section that culminates with American Dragon nearly landing on his head near the ramp! It was amazing he lasted another 15 years.
