Typically, that's not how I see it used. I see it used like these guys are

etc. It's to let the person reading it know that your intent was to make a joke. It's to avoid the, "Was he serious?" responses. That's how I use it at least.

For example, as you and I have disagreed on a couple of things this morning already I might say the following:

"Is there anything else you'd like to be wrong about today?"

"Is there anything else you'd like to be wrong about today? LOL."

The second one being a clear indication that I'm not trying to be a mean spirited dick.

This is pretty much true.

But sometimes it also means, "laughing at you". "Daily Kos, lol!" Or, "get a load of that guy, lol".

Then last week at work (VZW) I transferred a call to Tech support. There was nothing funny about the call at all, I didn't say anything to the Tech rep that was funny. After I transferred and hung up the guy emailed me (and I don't know this fucking guy, completely different state than I'm in) with only "lol".

Walking into a convenience store for a quick purchase, and getting stuck behind somebody in line who has a very complicated purchase, or just wants to chat with the register person, or just wants to create a problem that holds everyone else up.

Happened last night. Wanted to buy a soda. Black kid in front of me want to buy a clove. Doesn't have an ID proving he's over 18. What follows is a 5 minute dialogue where he complains about how far he had to walk/run to get to the store, and he's clearly over 18, and if he doesn't get what he came for, he's going to start tearing the store up. This dialogue goes on for several minutes until the guy behind the counter pussed out and sold it to him anyway.

The whole episode put me off my feed.

I liked the time when I saw a guy pull up in his car and didn't have ID on him to buy cigs allegedly. Well, dipshit, you're angry with her for not selling them to you but you are also apparently driving around without a license.

There's demonstrations now in parts of CT, with political support, against early release programs from prisons. Spurred in part from a murder of a child from an ex con, who would have been released early even without the program.

This is just another example of people thinking with their guts, and not their heads.. Is everybody in prison a rapist or murderer? Why not just throw away the key and do away with any sort of release, if we're so worried about a prisoner being released back into the community..?

until you've seen a baby barf on them. or grabbed one after a baby with a wet...and not necessarily wet with pee...has sat in one.

carts are gross.

some dude doesnt wipe well, gets shit on his hand, then uses a cart. you get it after him. you dont see the shit, but its there and now his shit is on your hand.

using a cart is like having sex with every freak that's touched that cart.

Oh, carts are filthy. (I'd recommend against letting your kids ride in them, btw, as I know someone who works at a Stop and Shop, and they use the carts for their garbage and discarded raw chicken containers..)

Still kind of annoys me when one thing bothers people for being dirty, and they take pains to avoid/sanitize that one thing, when the fact is we're basically living in filth up to our elbows all the time, and usually manage to survive.
