Paid leave as a punishment.

The police chief of New Haven: CT got taken to task for screaming at a waitress. He got sent on paid leave as a result.

So you know what he does? He uses all his sick leave as soon as the "discipline" is over.

How is a paid leave really anything except a paid vacation? Sure, it costs overtime pay, but still.

That just makes it worse, if that's how it is.

Anyways, another Olympic themed complaint: Athletes who embarrass themselves, and by extension their country, through unprofessional behavior.

I'm of course talking about those nitwits who trashed a bathroom, ripping the mirror off the wall and relieving themselves all over the room. And worse, when someone confronted them about it, they claimed they were mugged..

If I'm reading this right, a former editor for Gawker got caught holding the ball because he's the only one with no bankruptcy protection, had his personal account frozen, and is being dragged through the mud for money he doesn't have and can never afford to pay..

I don't have any love for Gawker, but this whole thing looks pretty vindictive..

I hate the prevailing assumption in popular culture that no Americans can do a good British accent when they have a camera pointed at them. While the Brits can apparently do no wrong when it comes to sounding like Americans. I actually think the latter is true (more often than not), but the former is just a lazy criticism, borne of some weird cultural insecurity.

While I don't disagree with what you're saying, I belong to an NCIS group on facebook. They hired a new actor who is a Brit - forget where he's from, and some of the British members of the group were saying he wasn't using his natural accent and he sounded odd. A couple of Americans told them they were wrong and he sounded fine

I just drove away from a rest stop on a five hour trip without a drink because all I had was 20's and 10's, and vending machines accept small bill's.

Banks giving 20's... Useless in some cases.

Any kind of button or fastener in the back pocket.

I guess the point is buttoning them against pickpockets, maybe? I doubt anyone would want to fiddle with a button every time they take their wallet out, so I don't see the point.

Yes, ATM's.

I always ask a teller or clerk for small bills, if possible.

Blacklight: The vending machines at the rest stop in Penn looked like something from the 1970's, or maybe the 1980's. So, no card reader (For that matter, none of the machines in my hotel supported cards.)

Adding to my last one, usually it's a matter of etiquitte to offer a round of drinks or something if you win decent, and your friends don't. It's certainly what I do..

And then your learn one of your buds isn't about that, and doesn't even offer (And has been given the offer himself.)

Reciprocity is passe, I guess..

(More specifically, what to do with yourself when you're done and someone else isn't. Decided to sit around the sports bar and cigar shop smoking and drinking with another friend who hit his limit.

I've just been thinking about how hobbies that target kids eventually get targeted by collectors, and suddenly the target market is "pushed out" of affording anything.

Specifically, the Amiibo's brought this to my attention. Those figurine's no one could get, 'cause scalpers.

This kind of thing doesn't really affect me, 'cause making enough money now, but it's a little annoying that there's nothing for cash strappes youngun's to enjoy before someone ruins it for them.

It's in the New Haven county area. About 10 minutes from New Haven city by I-95.

If you heard about the taco mayor, we're his town of East Haven's neighbor. (Mayor Maturo when asked what he intended to do to help the hispanic community, said "I don't know, maybe I'll go out and buy some taco's!")
