"I hate elaborate dress wear"--DocSavage

We're talking about BUTTONS fwiw.  Again the issue wasn't so much that you like to be comfortable.  The issue was you made it sound like buttoning sleeves is like going to the moon or something.

actually, he made it sound like buttoning sleeves was like running a marathon with a gimp leg and it being the marathon organizer's fault that the marathon was too hard for people with gimp legs.

No, you're blaming the guy in the wheelchair for not being able to use steps.

It's not that I'm clumsy..  It's that a piece of dressware requires that you have excellent dexterity (So most seniors are out of luck too)

IMO, that's poorly thought out design.

you said you had problems because of your clumsy fingers.

Like this, for instance, it's too good not to share:

Ol' boy got married last year. Lasted about 6 months. I told him to get the marriage annulled. He looks right at me and says, "I can't, we done constipated the marriage." I was like fFFFUUUUUUUUUUU.

c'mon that's not word for word. i'm postitive he said "I cain't" not "I can't"

Here's a good one.

I live in a 2nd floor apartment in a multifamily house. The street I live on has many multifamily houses. It's a side street with parking on both sides all up and down the street. We have a driveway that fits two cars. The guy on the 3rd floor parks int he driveway and my girlfriend parks there also. Sometimes when I don't feel like driving to the end of my street to turn around and park in front of my house I park across the street. This morning I come outside and a piece of loose leaf is on my windshield and written on it is a note in black permanent marker in what I can best describe as "angry teenager" handwriting. It reads:

"Excuse me, But I pay $950 To live here and I'd love to park in front of my own fucking home!

Thanks... Don't do It again"

Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, I didn't realize paying the average going rate for an apt in a multifamily house got you your own golden parking spot on a public city street.

My question is, should I just let the police know about this ahead of time so when I park there again and something happens to my car they will know about it???

Do you know who in the multifamily house wrote the note? If not, I'm not certain what the cops are going to be able to do about it.

What I would've done: If you know somebody who lives in that same multifamily across the way who also parks on that side of the street, take the note and put it on *their* windshield. They'll be even more indignant, since they also live there and have just as much right to park there as the angry note-writer presumes to have.

With any luck, you'll start an entertaining blood feud that you can watch from your balcony across the way like Mr. Burns, or you could be like Jimmy Stewart in that movie where he's got the broken leg and the telescope.

That WOULD be entertaining, but I don't know which car belongs to who. I just know that the cops had to be called there in the middle of the night the first week they lived there. I'm not sure how many apartments are occupied in there right now because I believe it was empty up until a month or so ago. I know one of the assholes who lives there tears up the street in his shitty old white Bronco type truck. Gotta love white trash.

I didn't want the cops to actually do anything about it, I just wanted to alert them to it in case anything happens.

what this passive aggressive coward doesnt realize is that if you stop parking there he will be forced to reveal himself if he wants to take the spot.

when this happens, confront him and watch him morph into a vagina.

Even if something did happen to your car, the most the cops might do is question everyone in the building. Unless somebody confesses, this is unlikely to get you anywhere.

I maintain that your best bet is to scout the enemy and their vehicles and choose a target. The bitchy looking single mother with the giant hoop earrings and the lip gloss? Very possibly the note-writer. Actually, reading the note, I would bet money that a woman wrote it. This narrows the field considerably. Now, if there's a older, matronly lady who likes to walk her Boston Terrier every morning at 6am, she'd be a good choice. Or any guy, as long as he's not the note-writer's boyfriend.

you could do what my uncle is doing: put up cameras that face the parking spot (recording everything)

That's worse than the time that an angry neighbor came knocking on my door, pissed that I parked in the spot he shoveled out of like shoveling out of the spot guaranteed him that spot until all the snow melted. I only parked there because the guy who lives across the street from me parked in the spot that I shoveled out. I hate that shit. You're not entitled to dick. I'm sorry you shoveled a spot out only to have someone else park there, but people need to work, people need to be able to park when they visit. Shit, it's even worse IN Philly when you have people saving spots with trash cans and lawn chairs.

Honestly, I don't know why people just don't get together and shovel out EVERYONE'S parking spot. Or better yet, why don't kids just get up off their lazy asses and instead of playing video games all day on snow days, go around and solicit from people to shovel their parking spots out? Christ, you know how much money these little snots could be making?

Yeah, AVSB's is worse.  I can understand the irritation over losing a shoveled out spot (Not to the point of being a dick about it though...), but everyone knows the streets open season.

The audacity of people..  It's almost as annoying a dress sleeve buttons.

Adults who still live with their parents.

I'm not talking about someone who is incapable of taking care of themself, or have moved back in because of surgery / divorce / whatever. I'm talking about the people who are capable of working and have not moved out. The kind of people who take off work whenever or spend $400 a month on junk food or buy every new video game / DVD / smart phone that comes out and when you call them on it they shrug it off as jealousy.

This isn't a jealousy issue. This is... I don't know. It's a cross between shame and disbelief and something else. How can you not feel like a total shitbag when you wake up and realize you are twenty-nine years old and still living with your mother? How do you not feel embarrassed by that? How can you not only admit that, but brag about all the cool awesome shit you can buy because mommy pays all the bills?

I moved out when I was 20. I decided that I was going to save up for a bitching 21st birthday when I realized what kind of adult lives at home at 21? There is someone in particular that I'd love to beat the shit out of just to make room for some common sense and a semblance of pride.

The economy is not doing so hot and a lot of 20-somethings are saddled with an incredible amount of education debt. I haven't run into as many people bragging about their dvd purchases (?) while living with their parents as you, but based on your angry tone, it sounds like a serious problem.

on the other hand, i have more than a few employed facebook friends that live with their parents and post from their iPhone4s or drive a car that costs a year's worth of their salary.

it annoys me only because it reminds me of how stupid i was at 25 and how long it took me to pay off stupid shit i shouldn't have bought.

Funny you guys should mention that. The guy I work with that I'm talking about in this thread is 31 and lives with his parents. Check this shit out:

His mom works a night shift at Wal*Mart(tm). She gets off at 7:30 a.m.

She goes home, sleeps until about 11, then wakes up. Why? Because ol' boy goes home every day (when we're slow enough that he can take off) to go home and eat lunch that his mom fixes him.

31.

fa;lkdsjlfjdslakfjd

And, he actually does say "can't". Each redneck's language is like a snowflake. Some say "can't", other say "cain't", a few Memphis people will say the idiot Yankee pronunciation of "ahn" instead of the correct pronunciation of "own" for "on".

I've got a friend that's 35 and still lives with her parents. She takes huge vacations every year, and has no debt. Her parents are fairly well off, but she does make her own money, but 35 at home is just... odd to me.

I have two friends that live home with their parents, and both are 32.

To be fair, one of them could live on his own and works regular hours at decent enough jobs, saves his money, doesn't buy a lot of stupid shit, and is even improving himself to get better jobs, but his parents keep guilt tripping him about what they'd do without him because both are near crippled, and he has close relationships with both of them.  Tight knit family, like best friends.

But the other friend doesn't have such an excuse, with his dreams of making it big with an MBA crushed and choosing not to work anything beneath him (So basically anything beneath a fortune 500 company).

So how does he spend all his time?  Downloading and burning porn, and seeing doctors because he's convinced he picked up an incurable disease that'll kill him in a year.  Now he's lying to his folks about getting interviews and needing money for work computers and such, and it's a complete lie for the money..

That's the potential suicidal friend I mentioned, btw.  He's sure he'll be unable to care for himself due to this percieved illness, and that they'll either lock him up in a nuthouse for this, or for his refusal to work and inability to care for himself.  Claims he'd rather be dead first.

Come to think of it, I also know another guy who's in his early 40's living at home, but he used to live on his own through his 20's.  Worked a lot of jobs too.

Then he went to college at 32, it didn't pay off, he had to move in with his folks, and got lazy and picked up bad habits.  Now he's playing poker online all the time and taking trips to Florida to visit a friend.

Well, it doesn't actually bother me when people live at home later in life, I just wanted to talk about the guy I work with again. Come to think of it, I know another guy who is 35 and lives at home, and one of my best friends in the whole world lives at home. It's not a bad thing, it's just weird.

Guy I'm paying for doesn't pay a cent. His stepdad has rolled up on me out of nowhere and told me how much he can't stand having him around since he never offers to pay for anything.

That's so amazing of you to have moved out at 20, but 90% of the population could never afford that. I moved out at 22, then moved back home at 24 to go to school and didn't move back out again until I was 28.
