Throwback Thursday: Jake Roberts debuts in WCW

WCW, 1992 – World Championship Wrestling was still reeling over the loss of Ric Flair, and the many regime changes that plagued the company in the early 90s. One of the major coups that happened in the summer of that year was the defection of Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

Jake had been coming off a WWF feud with The Ultimate Warrior and The Undertaker, and was still very much in his physical prime. WCW had been running with Sting as the top babyface to carry the promotion. So it was only natural that the two cross paths.

It happened during a match between US Champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude and Nikita Koloff. Jim Ross provided play by play with The Stinger himself on guest commentary
