The way every state has to copy off California or New York when they make their laws..

Like no fault divorce.  Cali did it, and it suddenly spread to other states..  Or the hippie movement spreading out from there.

If I wanted to live in California, I'd move to California..

Are you against no fault divorce?

http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-lishan-wang-yale-doctor-sentencing-20170922-story.html

An infamous case where a man murdered a doctor and shot at his pregnant wife because he felt he was unfairly dismissed from a prominient medical center, is finally coming to a close.  It took seven years, forcing the man to take anti-psychotics, and a plea bargain from the murderer.  And the bastards not even doing life.

He did it, he admits he did it, everyone knows he did it.  Yet it took seven years.  The murderer himself tied up the proceedings with nearly 400 defense motions.

I don't get it..  Is this an example of a broken system, or is there really something uniquely complex about this one case that required the murderer himself to agree it's time to end it?

Sorry if this is too close to politics, but the talk about some schools changing names because Confederate is kind of annoying.

Not surprising though, when you consider most board of trustee's have the governor and other politicans on it  (Look up Yale and Uconn board of trustee's, that fuckwit prison bitch Malloy is on both..)

I hate listening to people ad-lib additional "So Goods" while singing "Sweet Caroline."

Me too.

When you lose a lot of weight, think of rewarding yourself with something decadent, get to the restraunt, and just can't bring yourself to do it.

I guess the Wooster Street Pancakes will have to wait (Banana-chocolate chip ricotte..  Yeah, I may wait forever on those, frankly ordering something like that past the age of 10 is kind of embarressing..)

IT DOES!

But the cling peach's belgium waffle with whipped cream is good, too.

This local place called Hidden Kitchen I go to once a week has all sorts of off beat, yet amazing stuff.  Pulled pork eggs beni, topped with onion rings is a personal favorite.

So Bobby, were things much different in the 60's?

Near as I can tell, every single protest/counter-protest is nothing more then thin skinned kids, and the media catching the hysterics on camera and acting like it's a bigger deal then it really is.

So, googling up how to take care of dog pee on a bed.

This is why I hate house sitting:  Just because it's not your fault if something goes wrong, doesn't mean you're not responsible.

Dude I was a kid in the 60's, how old do you think I am? I never noticed the protesting.
I do remember supporting Nixon though

Sorry, you're right.  :)

I was single digits in the 1980's, but couldn't tell you anything outside if the movies I saw, like Transformers..

Anyways:

Never a pen around when you need it.  It's never you that takes them either, you'll put them back, which is why you never even think about it until it's time to write down an insurance confirmation number or phone number, and suddenly "Where's the damned pen??"

Long line at the customer service desk of a local supermarket.  I ask the lady at the desk why the sudden long lines, and she says they just started this new policy where if items that qualify aren't fresh, you get double your money back.  And, they're not allowed to check it because of a "no hassle" policy.  And, they take items from competing store brands..

None of this makes sense to me.  Yeah, I hate waiting in line, but now I'm trying to work out why they'd even do this.

Money laundering?

Senior care.

The general logic from the conservative side, is seniors who don't plan, suffer later.

In my own experience, neither of my well off grandparents could afford to pay for care when struck down without help..  It's simply not possible.  Health care costs too much, and the services are hard/impossible to tap into.

Basically, end of life care is a luxury only the rich can afford, apparently.

While I'm waxing political knife in the back, lets talk capitalism:

The theory:  Demand = profit.  Give people what they want, and you make money.

The reality:  Gave people a half assed, stripped down thing they demanded.

I see it a lot in the game industry with "retro games", especially.  Sometimes you get a good effort, but more often then not it seems like they just throw the project at someone who doesn't know what they're doing, doesn't really care, and doesn't get the resources they need even if they did.

I guess it's not totally fair to blame that on "capitalism", though, because there's a difference between true capitalism and "corporatism".

Indy game developers focused on nothing else but satisfying demand and then profiting, now THAT is capitalism.  And it's beautiful.

Mysterious hidden "fees" from this or that..

And the shitty customer service systems to contest them.  I think they make those as hard to negotiate as possible on purpose.

Phone apps that are nothing more than links to websites.  I can save a link myself.

I found out about IOS's nifty adblocking thing where an app creates a faux virtual network, and through some magic no more ads.  But there's some sites that still redirect or open ads up for some reason.

Not often. Usually the first click anywhere triggers the redirect, and then nothing for an hour or two, and then it might happen again.  No ad blocker seems to affect it, and you can see banner ads and such are disabled.

Keeping track of bank transactions.

Like why a very smal deposit doesn't quite add up, and nothing in the history helps.  I understand a check needs time to clear, but how much do they actually credit you?

We're talking sub 200's, not 10 thousand, so you'd think they'd just credit the whole thing, but nope, 79 dollars short after subtracting a little over 30 in purchases, bills ect..

That moment when you start to realize a few of your friends are kind of lowlifes.

They put on a good face, so it took awhile to see, but gradually you piece it together by word or by deed..

That it took me this long to realize a super rich stout beer called "imperial biscotti break" would be a natural over ice cream.  :)
