Wear the belt too tight. Convince yourself you're still fat. Use that as extra motivation to Stay On The Path.

Would you believe I broke a belt doing that?  :(

Not a cheap 10 dollar one, either.  Buckle end popped right off.

People who have their vocal volume stuck on high in standard conversation.  In public places, but also if they're your neighbors early in the morning/late at night.

Non-famous people who put in their Twitter bio - "All thoughts are my own." As if they have somebody tweeting on their behalf and wouldn't want us to be confused or their views misrepresented.

It's actually part of our social media policy that if you're going to be mentioning the company in your tweets/FB/Instagram that you should put something like "all posts are my own and do not represent my employer" in your profile - so I can see people doing it for that reason.

Thunderstorms ruining your plans.

This being CT, they're also pretty common.

I liked Seinfeld when it was on, but I can't watch it anymore, I find it unfunny, and yes, about a bunch of jerks

I liked it as a kid, when I watched it with the folks.

Buy you know how it is, you tend to see things differently back then.  It's like thinking back to some fun get togethers with family, and suddenly realizing "Wow, my grandmother was a jerk to her daughters.."

And yet I can still watch Friends and laugh, even though I've seen them all

I never really got into it, but I'm not trying to say you do a 180 on everything.  :)

I can read old books I used to enjoy, and notice some stuff I just didn't pick up on as a kid.  Some of it is amusing, some of it is annoying, and some of it is just disturbing (For the latter, re-reading an old story about a pre teen girl who magically grows into puberty and sleeps with the hero had me raising an eyebrow..)

When you find something you really like, and have trouble finding it again.  Either it's sold out (I knew a guy who actually bought out all the stock of stuff he liked..  Like if canned peaches are on sale, he buys every damned one.  Wish I could go back in time and punch him in the nose) or they aren't ordering it anymore.  Or worse, not producing it anymore.

Only happens with stuff you really like.

The internet.

Just, the internet.  It's basically an experiment that proves crowd thinking is the worst thing ever..

This cut and paste went sour, so editing:

The local news reported parents are sueing their 30 year old loafer to leave.  I posted an article to that effect, then asked why they don't just throw the bum out, and call the police if he refuses.  And asked if the stupid politicians enacted laws to protect these parasites from being forcibly removed at will.

Since then, I did a little googling, and as it turns out:

https://www.thestreet.com/story/12869087/1/how-to-kick-your-adult-slacker-out-of-the-house-how-to-toss-the-boomerang-kid.html

Quote
Can you legally throw out an adult child without a legal eviction?
Question Details: A 22-year-old moved back in with parents almost a year ago and will not follow rules (keep his room clean or work more than two days a week to afford his bill or pay his own way).
So what happens when the arrangement turns sour?
There are different legal avenues which apply to different circumstances that parents can pursue. One is an “action of ejectment.” An eviction would be used if there is a landlord- tenant relationship. But absent this, the ejectment is the procedure.
Ejectments come into play if the slacker is living in a vacation home or a house the parents were using for a rental property or a property they that they are putting up for sale. This involves going to court and getting an order to vacate the property.
The other option is a "defiant trespass." This comes into play if the slacker is living in the parents' house and refuses to leave.
“If the child is an adult, the parents have no legal obligation to house him,” said Pat Biswanger of the law firm of Palmarella and Curry, in suburban Philadelphia. “In the case of an adult child who refuses to leave, the parents can call the police and ask them to prosecute the child for defiant trespass. If the police won’t do it for some reason, the parents can go to the magisterial district justice and file a private complaint for defiant trespass and get a court order telling the child to leave.”

"Legal action"?

Not even just against an overstaying kid, but it sounds like there's protections for guests in general.  That is ridiculous!

See why I hate the legal system?  Notices of eviction, a big, complicated legal process..  Sounds like a money grab to me.  Why let people do something for free, like call the police on a 30 something year old trespasser, when we can create a series of "protections" that let the courts get their pound of flesh.

I've got phlegm ball in the back of my throat. It's like tethered to something. I can't hack it out or swallow it. I can kinda bring it forward, but that induces gagging, which doesn't clear it out either. This sucks.

Maybe where you live. On the west side of Los Angeles, it's always spring.

Lot of pollen and such down there?

Here, we have so much of it, it sometimes looks like the grounds covered in snow.

I don't have allergies, so I have no idea what the pollen count is.
Phlegm ball is gone this morning, so we're back in business.

Lando is bi, apparently.

Totally not a publicity stunt.  I'm sure they weren't hoping the millions and millions of fans would need rage on twitter and tumblr and Reddit and YouTube and give them free advertising.

Nope, this move has no ulterior motives whatsoever.  Just like turning Thor into a woman didn't.

I mean, it's not like there wasn't moral outrage and a snubbing from critics over not turning Iron Fist Asian.  That would be silly.

Edit:  I'm told it's actually "pan sexual".

Meaning he'd do it with...  anything.  C-3PO.

Not sure if I should be annoyed or bemused here.

When you win $1,788.00 in the state lottery drawing, but to claim the prize, you have to drive all the way to the Lotto district offices in the Valley during work hours, and then I'm sure wait in line for a good 15 minutes, because you know it's like the DMV down there. Then they report it to the IRS so you can get taxed on it. I'm sure parking is shitty, too.

WHY AM I SO CUR-SED, LORD? WHY???

Hanging on to the superstition of the number 13. Like, buildings that have a 12th floor and a 14th floor, but not a 13th.

The 14th floor is physically the 13th floor. You've just chosen to label it differently. Get over it.

I want to buy a building a deliberately put in a 13th floor just out of spite.
