This is a series with almost no pure good or evil characters.  Joffrey is pure evil everyone else have degrees of both.

Is Joffrey "evil" or is he just a shithead kid who always got what he wanted now ruling with nothing to check him except for his imp uncle? Yeah, I do agree he's the worst character, but I almost wonder if he's not so much devil's spawn as he is a cautionary tale about giving your kids everything they want.

Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass here. He is a pretty shitty character.

He's close to being pure evil, but even then he has love for his mom, Jaime, Tywinn, brother and sister. He also genuinely loved and looked up to Robert.

I'd say the Mountain is pure evil. He's pretty much a killing, raping, and torturing machine, at least in the books. We never find out too much about him, but it's always horrible news for anyone around him and he takes great pleasure in it.

Another pure evil character might be
Ramsay Bolton.
Given what his house's sigil is, I might have to agree with you.

Ramsay Bolton is possibly worse than Joffrey. Ramsay is a BASTARD, and one so cruel he got given a title just to placate him. Joffrey got his Kingship merely by being the first born. If he had to fight for anything, he'd be dead.

But The Bastard of Bolton...

I hope he becomes King one day.

for some reason the quote thing isn't working for me, but Ned's story of Wylla checks out in the third book with the introduction of Edric Dayne who said he shared a wetnurse with Jon Snow.  But whether or not she was his true mother is yet to be determined.

Could be a red herring along with
Aegon Targaryan
being alive.

I forgot that Shae was a German pornstar. Makes the show even better now.

So, how many people who saw the show, actually read the books?

Didn't think there was a lot of fantasy book readers around here, and I'm just wondering...

Haven't read the books, and don't plan to. I might if there wasn't a TV show to watch.

I don't like that music. Excited the show is almost back, though.

The trailer does a really poor job of highlighting what a major part Frenk Swordton is in the 3rd book. Or something similar.

Like SCB I read the books after seeing the show, I started close to the end of season 1. That season was very faithful, season 2 was less faithful. The books dig deeper into the characters and you learn some much more about their motivations.

This is not really a fantasy, it is a great story with some fantasy elements. It is also nice to read about real people, no direct lines of who is good or evil.
