Wrestling & MMA / Re: Why Lawler and Why Now?

No, I meant Booker.  King Bookah on commentary was great.

Though, I'd be OK with Chet Lemon and Black Snow as well.

Maybe it's just the giant glaring oversight that Lawler has never wrestled on Wrestlemania, and now they're looking to fix it.

Could be.

I'm hoping Booker does color commentary

I'll take Beth vs. Kong, since I'll never get Cena vs. Taker at Wrestlemania.

One I can think of is from the Kane/Big Show RAW match in 06 IIRC, where Big Show was trying to wrestle like a cruiserweight.  Doing moves that cruisers would do in terms of reversals and going for a drop toehold.
I LOVED that match.

If I remember right, Kane did a rana!  :D

I'll still never get over the first time I saw Terry Funk do his moonsault.

I think us crazy IWC Smarkity Smarks can stop worrying.

I think ol' AmDrag is gonna be OK in WWE.

Enough of the "he's short, so he can't be badass" stuff.

Just about every WWE Pro on NXT put him over, calling him a ninja.  Last I checked, ninjas are pretty badass.

Enough of this.  Just enough.  If WWE's obsession with height were REALLY the case, Evan Bourne would've never been signed.  So, enough already.

I flew out to Philly last year, and it was awesome.

I might do it again.

I will NEVER believe that any kind of fan voting WWE does is a shoot.  EVER.

Which is why I can't understand why they put him over as the winner of NXT and not A-Ri or McGuillicutty.

All that said, Ki's first match back on the indies will be against Amazing Red, so all appears to be right with the world.

I really don't like how this has turned into a screaming contest between "WWE Creative is Stupid and Yucky" and "Kaval is a stupid Indy Scrub who wanted a mega-push right away, and the Internet should shut up" all over various forums.

I still don't get it. They put Kaval over as the winner of NXT, but then they just left him out to dry with nothing?

Furthermore, didn't Low Ki see that things WOULD eventually turn around for him, as that's what WWE does with all of their talents that aren't Super-Cena?

Is there anything HHH could do to ever get you to stop hating him?

Like if he were to take on Chris Jericho in a best 10 out of 19 series, and got pinned 10 times in a row?? then he dug up Chris Benoit's corpse and jobbed to it?? Then brought X-Pac and Chyna back and shot them in the face on live TV?? Then took the mic and apologized to everyone he ever wronged, and then apologized to you personally Tom... would you still HHHate him?
You forgot Booker T.

Cena makes fun of Punk and says things at a 2nd grade level, while Punk is not amused.

No, thank you.  We get enough of that with EVERY SINGLE OTHER JOHN CENA FEUD.

Kevin Steen vs. El Generico from Final Battle.

Seriously.  Come on.  You know in your heart that this is true.

A legitimate surprise winner that ISN'T an already established main eventer would be nice.  Alberto would fit.  Plus, Ricard announcing him as the winner and having a Wrestlemania entrance would be amazing. :)

All that said, WWE just can't help themselves.  I'm expecting Hunter to come in at #30 or something close to it and win.

Here's the thing.  Even as great of a talker Punk is and how good the matches will be, anything involving SuperCena, I just tune out from.

Not that I hate the guy (I don't), it's just that I'm so indifferent to him.  Most Cena feuds only go a few ways.

1. Insurmountable odds, to which he'll have to overcome (don't buy it anymore)
2. Someone who is so totally not in the league of JOHN CEEEEEEEEEEENAAAAAAAAA!!! (which they could do with Punk)

I just don't care.  Not even with Punk.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him at the Tokyo Dome Show on January 4th for New Japan.

That's just what I'm expecting.

MVP apparently is not going to the unemployment line, because apparently there are other wrestling companies in other countries or something?  He says something like this on his twitter page.

Quote
No need for alarm. I did not get fired . I asked for & received my release. I felt it was time to go international & freshen things up.

So, uhh...wait.  He wasn't FAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIHRRRED?

I could take him or leave him, and I'm not one to fall for the aged veteran trick and immediately throw out the "He's better than 97.3 percent of the roster" line just as soon as he throws a punch REALLY slowly.

I've thought for a while that Chuck Taylor has the talent.  Not sure if they'd think he was too skinny or something, though.  With that company, you can never tell.

Wrestling & MMA / William Regal announces retirement?

At today's WWE Raw house show in London at the 02 Arena, William Regal told the live crowd that the current British tour would be his last as he would be retiring soon. Regal got one of the biggest reactions of the night for his match against Bryan Danielson.

Regal, who has been extremely underutilized in recent years by WWE, is easily one of the best workers in the company right now. I absolutely would suggest reading his autobiography "Walking the Golden Mile" as it's one of the best WWE-released autobiographies ever.

A few wrestlers I spoke to were surprised by the announcement.

Indeed, one of WWE's best all around workers in the business, and a man who had a hell of a story to tell.

Seriously, if you haven't read Walking The Golden Mile, BUY.

Youmacon was fun.  I hung out with a lot of friends, made a new one (an adorable college girl that likes Sonic the Hedgehog just as much as I do).

Also, my panel on Toonami went into Super No Vacancy attendance and got a lot of positive feedback.

I really do dig anime cons.  Unfortunately, they did not get to air the second episode of Gundam Unicorn.  Darn Bandai.  And apparently, the hotel and convention center ended up with more guests and stayers than the Super Bowl AND Wrestlemania.  Otaku are Awesome.

I don't subscribe to the "heel turn makes everyone better" mindset.  MVP could've been a very good face character that people liked.

WWE just decided to half-ass it, like they do with most things.

My mustache skills are downright pathetic and well under 9000, but I will try to grow one, anyway.

And I'll remember to donate, too.  When I have the money after Friday.

I had not heard of mangafox.com.  While I'm not a huge Naruto fan, I would keep up with it thanks to One Manga, and I haven't been able to since they went under.

The convention is this weekend, I'm going to get to see the premiere of the second OVA for Gundam Unicorn.  I'm excited.

For me, Gundam Wing was the first show after Tekkman Blade that really made me love anime.  Since than I've been a massive Gundam fanboi.
